I received the email below....This is a SCAM, but it bothers me that they have my name and SS#.  What can be done to stop all this crap?  I'm so sick and tired of all this, and from all the post on 800 notes, so it everyone else.




My name is TROY HARTON from Cash USA. Reason of this email is that we have registered a case against you.

Following is your information.

Social Security Number : *************
Outstanding Debt: $693.00(including late payment charges)
 
Penalty in the court: $8000+
 
Attorney and court fees: $1500+
 
Creditors- Cash USA which is a parent company of more then 400 cash websites and internet web portals in USA and operates under different names in different states.

Apart from getting laid off by your current employer after we send them the legal notice you will be blacklisted from getting any job.
 
Through an IRS (Internal Revenue Service) your social security number will be put on hold causing severe damage to your credit history or credit report and your income paychecks will be put on hold.

Any child support, disability, unemployment or retirement benefits will be either place on hold or will be stopped until the outcome of the case.
 
Our primary job was to notify you about the case before we send you legal document in the mail because once this case gets registered then we won't be able to help you out of court. Our client is least interested in getting the money at this point as they want to just go ahead and start taking legal actions however we wanted to contact you and give you last chance to resolve this case out of court.
 
If you take care of this out of court then we will release the clearance certificate from the court and we will make sure that no one will contact you in future.

Please let us know what is your intention by today itself so we can hold the case or else we will meet you in court house.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

This is ridiculous, these "people" need to be stopped and prosecuted!!

I knew it was a scam as soon as I got the email. I always look up on 800notes if they put a phone number on the email to see if there had been many reports of it. I also don't like that they have my ssn# on the email. Will be blocking this and not answering my phone if they try and call me.

I just received the exact same email from "Troy". Thanks for the warning!

Indian accent so strong you can cut it with a knife.  Who'd be fooled by this?

Possible Payday Loan Collection Scam

It has been reported to the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) that a consumer was contacted via telephone at home and work by an individual identifying himself as “Officer Nash.” This individual indicated that he represented a company by the name of Cash USA regarding a delinquent payday loan.

Calls were received several times a day and the consumer was threatened with jail unless the requested fees were paid immediately. It was also reported that representatives from Cash USA contacted the consumer’s relatives.

The consumer provided the following telephone numbers that are allegedly tied to the company: 864-556-0179, and 206-350-1619.

Additionally, DFI received a report from another consumer who was contacted numerous times via cellular phone and at work regarding a delinquent payday loan by the individual identifying himself as “Officer Nash”, interchangeably stating that he represented companies Cash USA and CashUSA.net. The consumer indicated to the caller that she did not obtain a loan. However, the caller threatened legal action against the consumer. The caller also knew the consumer’s personal information, including her social security number.

These companies are not licensed by the Washington State of Department of Financial Institutions as a payday lender, or by the Washington State Department of Revenue Business Licensing Service as a collections agent.

Collection activities are subject to the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Therefore, if you have questions regarding debt collection laws please contact the Federal Trade Commission at 382-4357 (1-877-FTC HELP), or online at www.ftc.gov.

Also, if you feel you have been a victim of a scam contact the Federal Trade Commission. Because the scammers have access to bank account information and social security numbers, victims should consider themselves victims of identity theft and take appropriate precautions. The Federal Trade Commission has information for victims of identity theft available online at www.ftc.gov.

I received the same email as CAB now they are stating they will file legal charges against my name and file n legal charges sent me a picture of money pack I need to send the money.

I got this same exact email the other day. Don't like the idea they have my ss number. That is bothersome:(

Tell them to kiss your a$$. They are crap and their scam is BS. No company can legally withhold your paycheck pending a legal case.  This email IS just to scare you and trick you.

I received the same email from the same person and replied that I was turning it over to the authorities which I did. Block their phone numbers.

To all out there,
just ignore it. sent it to junk. unfortunately, they have your SS#, TRUE, probably because at one time, you applied for a payday loan. however, they cannot do anything if you check your credit report and know how to handle your finances.

any reasonable judge would not grant these ass..s.... what they are asking for...

so no bother even listening to their  bull...s calls..

Got same email.  You can always tell the way they write with broken english that it is a scam for sure.  And people, if someone is really going to sue you they will not be contacting you by email.  Another sure sign of a scam is them asking you to purchase a green dot card to make the payment.  They never give an address to mail the payment.

I'm so glad I decided to google this because I too not only got the exact same email, amounts are the exact same and words are to the T the Same but I have been getting calls from different "officers" who stated all kinds of case #s and called so many of my family members with their personal info as well. I knew this has been a scam since the first call I received but they truly had my family freaking out.  It's crazy how these people act and true it is scary but please people do your research, know your rights, THE LAWS, and always always google(research) ANY suspicious emails/calls.

I just received the same email.  It is a scam.  There more people makes this aware the less power they will have to intimidate. Spread the word. :) I dont know how they got my SS #.  

I just got the SAME EXACT email this morning from that guy
