    Threats from a collector "Creditors" for payday loans not paid. Tried to get my credit Card and debit card information. So they were sending police and process servers to my place of employment or my home.

    Called and argued with myself and my boss. Threatened to call Corporate on me... I said go ahead. He hung up on me. However his threat of authorities showing up and serving me today did not happen. He really comes across as a bully.

    Same here for the last week and a half.  I've gotten calls from a very rude woman "Ms. Moyers", and she sometimes goes by Ms. Meeks.  Tells me to call Mr. Alexander my case manager.  She always calls from a Restricted number though.  They threatened (on my voice mail no less - for over 2 minutes) such idiots, to contact my family - and they did!  They called my sister and my mother in law whom I have never listed on any loan applicaton EVER!  They then threatened to send 2 uniformed officers to my place of employment.  RRiiiiigghhhttt.  Still waiting for that to happen.  They have contacted people at my job in our IT department who don't even know me and told them they are looking for me so that I can be served regarding "charges" that I've been running from.  unbelievable.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    @deondre - amen to that.  CCS has gone radio silent (out of business), but they operate under American Credit now.  they are on the run because they have been sued.  Her name is Lashone Elam (that's Ms. Meeks)

    When I saw the 855 I imagined it was going to be some type of spam so as I was on the phone with a business call, I let it go to voicemail. The voice mail was of a gruff sounding woman who claimed she was a Ms. Fisher but didn't give a company name as far as who she was allegedly representing. She claimed to have a fax order delivery and then gave my name (which they could have gotten from anywhere). She also gave some type of record number and said they'd make one final attempt to contact me at home or my place of business (I'm retired so good luck with that) or I could set up "an alternate place to meet them" (like that is going to happen). I have blocked the number, although I'm sure they'll try again thru some other number they use.

    I've received similar threatening calls from this outfit in the past. Every time I block the number, they call back on a different one. Today's call was typical: A recorded message from "Miss Fisher" said that they are making one final attempt to schedule a "fax order delivery" for Michael May at his residence or place of employment. They request that I call them back at the same number to ensure proper delivery of these "documentations" [sic]. I am not Michael May, and this is obviously a scam.
