Filled out a survey and was told that I would get a free cruise, FL Port of Palm Beach to Bahamas to one of their isles.  I could take the cruise anytime but they wanted my card info to pay the port fees, $118.00 for 2 people ($59/person).  First of all, if I can take the cruise anytime, why do I have to secure my space by paying the port fees ahead of time for some unknown time in the future.  I was repeatedly asked if I was interested in the cruise.  I did not give them my financial info.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  Has anyone ever gone on one of these free cruises and what was it like?  Thanks.

By the way, this is what I found on the internet about "855" numbers:

    Area Code 855 Detail

Area code 855 is a future area code reserved for toll-free calls in which the calling party is not charged. Instead, the telephone carrier charges the cost of the call to the called party. Toll-free numbers, such as 855 numbers, have applications such as technical support, customer service, and personal use.

So, on top of being called, I am being charged for the call & the time that I'm on the phone talking to whomever, it seems.

Fell for this about 30 years ago and paid $99 ... the scam lives ... they failed to tell me that you are required to bring your spouse and listen to a timeshare sell ... Kissed my $99 goodbye and never fell for it again !  Hey, those poor people in FL have to make a living somehow, but don't let them get your money !

    According to another website:

"1-855-217-0073 is not a valid number. If you are sure that you got a phone call from a number beginning with this prefix, the caller may have 'spoofed' caller ID."

Oh yes. This is one of the fraud calls that has been around for some time. Good that you did not give them personal info since one of the things that can happen is identity theft. At the least, your credit card would be compromised and, IF this was given out, IMMEDIATELY block and cancel the card and get a replacement.

What you did not know was that you could have called the credit card company and they would have stopped the transfer, blocked the card and have given you a new card with a new number.

My sister fell for this scam a few years back....She is elderly and it turned into a nightmare.  Before we found out about it they had evidentially sold the info.  Fraud charges all over.  Called Credit Card Company and had card immediatly.  I never answer these calls - you shouldn't either.
