- CL| 1 replyKeep calling- rarely message. When they do leave message, it states they have a legal file in their office for me. How do they (or I) know who they are leaving that message for!?!? I don't get it....
- JJ replies to CLI received the same message twice today and twice on Friday. I had a payday loan and it has been paid in full several months ago. So, please ignore the phone calls and threatening voicemails that are left for you. I just checked the last voice mail and it's regarding the loan I had with Ameriloan (online) which again has been PAID in full since July 10, 2013. I have my email confirmation as well as a hard copy of the letter from Ameriloan. Also, I called them to see why I was receiving these calls regarding a debt that I have already... The representative told me I have a zero balance with them and they have not contacted me since July of this year. They said it has to be fraud and to contact BBB, AG and to save all of the voicemails they are leaving on my phone. I am not paying these scum bags one copper penny when i have already paid the loan in full to the actual company I borrowed the money from in the first place. Consumers Be Aware of these con artists out to steal your money.

Felony Charges Against Debt Collection Company that Targeted Consumers
November 12, 2013
BUFFALO, NY (WKBW/RELEASE) - Attorney General Eric T Schneiderman announced the potential filing of felony charges against the owner of a debt collection company that targeted consumers and harassed consumers and their families with threats of arrest and criminal investigation.
The investigation led to the filing of criminal charges against Gregory Cipressi of Unified Portfolio Servicing in Cheektowaga, owner and operator of Unified Portfolio Servicing, LLC, UPS, LLC, Unified PS Group, LLC all debt collection companies based in the Buffalo area. In addition to the criminal charges, the Attorney General has also filed a civil lawsuit seeking to shut down Cipressi's operation and secure restitution, penalties, and costs. The action is the latest in Attorney General Schneiderman ongoing probe of illegal practices in the debt collection industry.
The investigation found that Cipressi specifically targeted consumers, referring to their alleged debts as “special accounts.” Cipressi instructed employees to threaten criminal investigations and threats of arrest with warrants. Employees were identifying themselves as investigators. Cipressi further instructed employees to inflate the balances owing on payday loans by thousands of dollars, both of which are illegal debt collection tactics.
According to several former employees, Cipressi instructed his employees to threaten criminal prosecution in order compel them to pay. In addition, the investigation uncovered that Cipressi's employees falsely told consumers or their families that they worked for the County Courts and illegally demanded immediate payment. Employees allegedly said that if payment was not made immediately, the consumer would be arrested by the police and would face a criminal charge for an NSF check.
“This individual is accused of operating his businesses in a lawless fashion, instructing his collectors to do anything necessary to collect on an alleged debt, even if it meant harassing and threatening consumers and their families,” said Attorney General Schneiderman.
“We will continue to investigate debt collectors who try to take advantage of unsuspecting individuals facing hard economic times and we will bring them to justice.”
Among the allegations detailed in Attorney General Schneiderman's court papers, Cipressi and his collectors:
● Falsely claimed to be lawyers, investigators, detectives, and
mediators
● Threatened consumers with arrest, jail, and lawsuits
● Threatened to seize the assets of consumers
● Inflated the amount allegedly owed
● Attempted to collect debts from consumers not knowing if the
consumer actually owed the debt
● Targeted family members of consumers, wrongfully disclosing the
existence of alleged debts to family members, and attempted to collect
the alleged debts from family members
● Harassed consumers through repeated and constant calls, using
abusive language
● Levied unauthorized charges on the credit card accounts of
consumers
The civil case against Gregory Cipressi and Unified Portfolio Servicing is being handled by Assistant Attorney General James Morrissey and Senior Consumer Fraud Representative Karen Davis under the supervision of Deputy Attorney General for Regional Affairs J. David Sampson. The criminal case is being handled by Assistant Attorney General Paul McCarthy under the supervision of Deputy Bureau Chief Richard Ernst and Bureau Chief Gail Heatherly of the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau.- Caller: UNIFIED PORTFOLIO SERVICING, LLC

- Millie| 7 repliesThis is a collection agency called UPS LLC that takes over payday loans you did not pay on. I took out a payday loan and then lost my job and was irresponsible and never paid back. They've been calling me for a month and I finally answered, the man's name was Mike Donovan and he was very nice. He helped lower the debt I owed and set up payments. i googled the number and got terrified from all the comments saying they are scam artists. So I called the payday loan place I originally took out a loan with and had them give me the collection agencys number they sent my loan to. I called that company amd they also forwarded my loan to another collection agency and provided me with the number. It was UPS LLC. So for me, it wasn't a scam and as long as I was being respectful to my collector, he was respectful to me.

3/10/14 -HZ - Skeptic replies to Millie| 2 repliesThat sounds just like the planted message of an employee. So Millie why are you at a caller complaint site checking out this # & not at the phone bank or fan club today.
- JJ replies to Skeptic| 1 replyI keep getting calls from this number on my business phone. I have told the caller numerous times they are calling a business phone, I have no idea who the person is they are looking for, and would they please take me off of their call list. The last person I spoke to was a real jerk on top of everything else.

- JoThis number calls us almost every day. No idea who it is, but it's very annoying!!!
- spooky09 replies to JJI too have been receiving phone calls from them at work and on my cell. Actually the number they were calling me from was 716-242-5208. They were asked several times not to call my place of business. They again called last week and got very nasty with our receptionist as well as myself. I do not owe any payday loans. I did have one, but it was paid back in full and have documentation to back it up. Said his name was Jamal Harris and that he is an arbitrator and doesn't have to follow the laws of not calling a business. Said he had 2 deputies standing by to come serve me with papers. It is a scam. I have reported them to the Consumer Financial Credit Bureau. Today I got a call from the above mentioned number and looked it up to see that it is them also. The message says it is from OFG LLC, so they have changed their name once again. So please be aware they call from different numbers, with different company names, but it is all them.
