- Pittsburgh Scam GurusAbsolute total SCAM. They alternately use the names GM & Associates, Goldstein Associates, Goldstein & Associates.....No matter what name variation they are using this week, it's still the same SCAM. Typical scare tactics: Initial call/message (Usually from an unknown number) says that there are pending charges, litigation being filed, all sorts of scary legalese & financial mumbo-jumbo that must be responded to within 48 hours or else. Once you take the bait & call them back at 855-235-3436, then they really turn up the heat, trying to convince you that money is owed on a phantom loan or mystery debt from several years back, & if you don't resolve it immediately, then they will file charges against you. It's easy to see how consumers still fall for these scams: Once they start hitting you with all the court jargon & legal BS, & mix it in with bits & pieces of personal info, most people are frightened into paying up no questions asked. Of course, once you start asking too many questions of them, then the tables are turned & they are ready to cut the call short.....Don't fall for it!!! Get as much info from them as you can, then report them to local authorities.

Police are concerned with threats to lives and public safety. Police are not in the business of debt collection. They don't want another job chasing unproven penny-ante debts. Consumer debt in America is *not* a criminal matter and collector claims are not typically sent straight to a judge. Lawful debt collection is a process, not an ambush, and you are due a chance at each stage to raise a dispute.
FTC alert: "Fake Debt Collectors"
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - Pittsburgh Scam GurusUPDATE: These scammers have now changed their name again: They now go by "George Mitchell & Associates", most likely because they are getting threats from real legit "Goldstein & Associates" companies all over the country. We spoke with a "Ms. Banks" who is their operator with a bad attitude LoL. When we questioned why, if/when we called after hours, the greeting still says "Goldstein & Associates", her simple answer was "Oh we got rid of them & took over..." Nice...But you are the same smart-ass receptionist we spoke with 2-3 days ago!!! And what's really funny is that she can't even keep the name of her firm straight: Over the course of one conversation, she called it "Goldstein & Associates", "GM & Associates", "George Michael & Associates", & "George Mitchell & Associates" LMAO!!!! We were able to find out that these scammers are based in Atlanta GA, but like they always claim, "We have offices all over"....Yeah right. Don't fall for this!!! Report them to your local authorities!!!!

- New England wifeThese are a bunch of crooks! The reason they use names like Goldstein & Associates or Mitchell & Associates is because they know that smart consumers are going to immediately do a Google Search on them, & if they use the name of a real firm or company, then it seems legit. I feel sorry for companies who are actually named Goldstein & Associates or Mitchell & Associates, because it's all going to come back on them & cost them business. These crooks need to be tracked down & prosecuted! Someone needs to put a stop to it!

- Annoyed Business Owner| 2 repliesThese jerks are out of control! Every single day, I get calls on my work & business numbers--always the same spiel, the only thing that changes are the numbers & the names of the "firms". One day it's a call from Goldstein & Associates, next day it's a call from Mitchell & Associates, next day they call themselves something....But it's the same people! I spend 12-14 hours a day on the phone, I know voices...I can tell when I hear the same voice but a different name. It's so ridiculous! Goldstein or Mitchell or whoever you are & where ever you are, STOP CALLING ME! I don't owe any money on some phony loan from 10 years ago & you aren't going to scare me or extort me! You are clogging up my phone lines & jeopardizing my livelihood here, & I'm sick & tired of it. They know that the attorney general can't do squat to stop them, that's the most frustrating part!

Enjoy - Investigator JenningsLooks like they may be back to using the name GOLDSTEIN ASSOCIATES. We called this number back, & the robotic recorded greeting states "Goldstein Associates". We kept hitting "0", hoping to reach a live human being, but we reached the "Garnishment & Arbitration Division", then we reached the voice mail of a "William Richardson", then we reached the voice mail of a "Jennifer Phillips".....But never a actual person.

- Pittsburgh Scam GurusIncredibly, we received another call from these jokers looking for a non-existent "Angela Spencer". Can't believe these clowns are still in business & still using the same number & name ("Goldstein Associates")! Apparently, they have no "associates" & their only employee is a Negro woman named "Ms. Banks" of the "Garnishment & Fraud Department", as she is the only one who answers the phone when we call. She is very rude, very ignorant, very ghetto, & as soon as we begin to ask questions, she either hangs up or switches us to her voice mail.......SCAMMERS!!!
- Caller: Goldstein Associates
- Anniy Onimous replies to haAny reason we cannot just call that number around 3am and just keep calling them back for the pleasure of them calling us?
- TickedThey are now calling themselves Grey Mayberry and Associates (something like that - hard to understand the woman who answered). They have called neighbors of mine and even one elderly non-neighbor (several neighborhoods away) who is ticked at ME because he received the call -- he even posted it on Facebook saying I have a case against me - lovely...fantastic... they have this number (probably 500 other numbers) 866-496-2191.

- ValScam!!!!! These same people have been calling me for the past five years threatening to serve me papers. So here we are five years later, they are still calling and I am still waiting for those papers. These people are pathetic and losers. These people have several names, George Mitchell and Associates, Global something or another depending on the day of the week. They also call from 866-398-8164. They also may call from a number with an area code where you live so if you do not recognize the number don't answer. Let them leave a message and chances are they will tell you to call either the 855-235 number or the 866-398. I just let my phone roll into voice mail and delete the message. It is almost laughable the distance that they will go.
- Caller: George Mitchell or Global
- BMoreThey have been doing this crap to me also for years. Threatening to serve me with papers, blah, blah, blah. However, they are trying something different. As the previous person stated, they will call you and a local number may appear on your caller ID so more than likely some people will answer the call but it is actually these clowns. Usually the same names, Ms. Banks or John Blake. When you starting asking them for info. such as a business address or request for them to send you a letter they get irate. Their messages are always different, first they will say you have a claim in their office and leave some stupid claim number. If you don't reply, then they leave another stupid a-s message that I guess is supposed to scare you saying this is John Blake from George Mitchell, threatening to serve you with papers, call back in 48 hours, then end the call by saying you have been notified. They are going to have to trying something different with me because I don't scare easily.
- Caller: George Mitchell or Whatever they are calling themselves
- PHATSAMReceived a call today, not sure what name he gave John or George with some number 90831, had case associated with my name, and need to call back in 24 hours,to Mitchell & Associates 855-235-3436 or I would be served etc, considered this as my notice something to the effect.
- Caller: MITHCELL & ASSOCIATES
- Pittsburgh Scam GurusUPDATE: These scammers go by the names "GM Associates", or "Goldstein Associates", or "Goldstein & Associates", depending on who you speak with. They have been around for about a year, using different numbers. They are now using the number 1-866-414-3244, but the recorded voice mail message they leave still says to call 855-235-3436, which is no longer in service. Normally these crooks change names as frequently as they change numbers, but the reason they are holding onto this name is most likely because it's a very common business name & there are plenty of "hits" on Google when somebody does a search to check them out. If anybody knows of a legitimate company or business named Goldstein Associates or some variation, reach out to them & warn them so that they can put disclaimers on their websites, warn their clients, & contact their local authorities.
