I get weekly calls from this phone number and today is the first day they have given a company name.  But when you search that name - it does not exist.  Supposedly something has "popped up" on my name and ss# and they need to get in touch with me.  I don't know who they are and want them to stop calling me.  They call at work and I have told them numerous times NOT to call me at work.  They are constantly harassing me.

For the past couple weeks, been getting calls from this supposed company at my JOB at least 2 -3 x's a day.  Harassing me about something that they say is attached to my name & ss#, and that I need to contact them before it gets escalated.
Funny thing is that I haven't received anything in the mail of such a thing.

So 'SOUTH ATLANTIC MONEY MANAGEMENT' has been reported to the FTC....with phone #'s including extensions and the names of the people calling.
When you look up their name, it's a FAKE name.

I have been called at work also and have told them to cease and desist calling me.  When they left a name at work for me to call they went by "Emergency Locks".

I posted above earlier.  So I called them back and asked for the man's name and he said Jim.  I told him this number is a scam and that calling someone at work for debt purposes was illegal and that I was reporting them to the FTC. I asked him for his last name for the report and he hung up on me.  I then called them back and a lady answered.  I went through the same routine as I had before and she said "FTC who?" - I said the FTC what is your last name?  She said don't ever call us again and hung up on me.  This is a scam.  They had my name and SS# and the name of an old, old, old debt long taken care of.  If you get called, I suggest doing the same routine I did - they did not like it!!!!

Received a call from South Atlantic Money Management. Actually Googled their number. Found allot of negative comments including statements that they were scams. Well with that said I was VERY concerned being that they had all of my personal information from address to social security number and they DID have a valid debt of mine I had TOTALLY forgotten about. I made some calls to the Attorney General and was a bit before I heard back but DID find they are a legit licensed collections company. They really didn't do anything wrong other then continued phone calls until I was contacted. It wasn't a HORRIBLE experience but it was something that I did owe. If you do get a call from them listen to what they have to say its your credit that your hurting and they did work with me. Its up to the consumers to do their fact finding and in the end your responsibility to pay for something you have signed and agreed to when taking a loan.
The ONE THING I would like to say is that they have multiple numbers they call from and addressed that in my communication with the Attorney Generals office and found that this is a common practice for collection agencies. In the end its your decision to pay or damage your credit. For me I'm cleared, received a paid in full letter via email with contact info from the three major reporting agencies and have learned  a life lesson in my older age.... Keep better records.

Question... did you do your research? If you need their license number let me know I can give it to you. I actually had correspondence with the Attorney General office and found they are licensed to collect. Just wanted to let you know. Good luck.

Since you "corresponded with the attorney general", you should have no problem giving us the name, address and other information about this company and tell us then states where they are licensed to collect.

South Atlantic Money Management is a DBA of GS Holdings.  They are located (so far as I can tell) in Cheektowaga New York in an area infested with small-time fly-by-night debt collectors.  They are trying to hide behind a maze of different organizations.  Yes, they may be registered as either corporations or LLCs in various states but that does not mean they follow correct procedures.

So you "totally forgot" about a debt, did you?  How does that work?  I'm 73 years old and I pretty much can remember all the major debts I've had in my life.

It's typical of shills to say that,  somehow or another,  they "completely forgot" about some debt or another.

Then, out of nowhere,  they got a call from these  wonderful people at a debt collection number in upstate New York.  And magically,  they  helped solve a debt problem.  Solved it to  everybody's satisfaction.
Right.
