- ChrisCalled, said I owed a debt but wouldn't provide documentation to prove legitimacy. Got me for $50. Wayne patrick, Lee, and charlotte were the names. Threatened three counts of felonies.
- Caller: Coastal processing/ national billing
- Call type: Debt collector
- Sandy| 4 repliesI too received a robo call from this number today. Another BS artist. The recording was so bad on the answering machine, it was unbelievable. Last week I received the same type of collection call from bogus company and a different number. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. Another bottom feeder, as my attorney says.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Chris replies to Sandy| 3 repliesDid it say something about property?
- Sandy replies to ChrisThe message was so bad that you could barely understand it. I don't remember hearing anything about property, just that I should call or press one. I think there was some file number. I had ID theft about 5 years ago and this has been going on since.
- Sandy replies to ChrisThey probably have also said something to you about bank fraud, etc... It is so much garbage.
- BigA replies to ChrisCoastal is a known criminal enterprise, possibly offshore, that has been going around scamming people. If you paid by debit or credit card immediately notify the bank of fraud and get your card numbers changed. Now that you have paid them so easily, they have you on the easy marks list and will call again and again as well as sell your name to other crooks. You were on the right track and should have stayed that way. They are required to provide you with a letter stating this:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
