Mr Miller claiming to be from Hood & Thompson Assoc. Very rude guy, sent me to supervisor Mrs Baily, very nice, but vague on some claimed capital one card.  wanted me to pay 3ooo over the phone. can't find the company on the net, not sending them any money, requested they send me paperwork, which they didn't want to (we can settle your account now for less than if we send you a bill), left the call and she said she'd put in a request to have a letter of validation sent to me.  We shall see.  I have a capital one card and it's all good.  have had cap cards in past and they're all closed and paid. so very suspicious call.

Hood and Thompson called my son looking for his grandfather, said "important business matter". This company is a fake- trying to collect on fake debts. Their info is all over the Internet. I called and told them to remove my young sons phone #, rude guy answered the phone. Let's see if they actually removed it

They used mine and my sisters name.  Left a voice mail about a debt.  I know this is not true, want to report this scam to much fraud without people playing on the phones

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Hood and Thompson associate are absolutely fake. The address they give is a driving school. The other address I found was a townhouse looking area. Call from different numbers each time. They also refuse to mail said paper because email is faster. Thank god they only got $50 and not the $900 they tried to get.

got a call from Hood and Thompson associates today at 1:45 EST claiming that if I didn’t pay on a ten year old debt of $349 dollars by 3pm they would be filing suit
I asked for the debt to be proven in writing and was told I had already received several notifications in writing and that i needed to pay this amount now or there would be a judgment filed against me. I again asked for something in writing as she ( “Mrs Brown” was all she would give me) said to give her my email address and she would have an email sent stating the legitimacy of the debt. I refused and told her I don’t know who you are or your company and you expect me to just give you bank info? yea right ok?
