His name is Frank Van Horn, and he is a bill collecting weasle.

Had a suspicious call from a blocked number at 8:30 am on 12/8/11 with the caller claiming to be an investigator and wanted confirm an "appointment" to do an asset inventory.  1. The business he was calling about has been dissolved.  2. The address he wanted to meet at was no longer a valid address.  3. He gave a previous address that we no longer live at.  The number he gave for the "attorney" to call to get more information was 855-269-7228 Scott Prescott.  Looked both up online and find nothing for the  person or the number.  Scammer.

Got the same suspicious call from a Pat Johson about a phony appointment.  Said he's an asset and liability investigator hired by Frank Van Horn.  Never heard of either one. Sounds like a complete scam.

this is Shane Prescott from Barnaby & Wolfe, INC - it is a collection agency and he uses this unpublished number because the office records phone calls and this way he can not be recorded about the language and abuse he uses when harrassing you.  You can file complaints at the BBB, FDCPA, and your states Attorney General.

This guy is beyond being a jerk.  He will probably die soon of cardiac arrest... as the amount of negative juju he has to initiate from within his being, surely is affecting the quality and vitality of his physical body. He is manipulative, explosive, and throws a tantrum like a baby man....  

His tactics don't work and he tries to find ways to get to individuals hoping his angst and intimidation makes a person tremble in their shoes.  He has tried the "cloning" of a familiar number to get you to answer the phone, he will call 15x/day, email and fax unrelentless.  

Unfortunately, for this little  man, the effect is more entertaining to us than offensive.  I suggest anyone who gets a call from ole' Frankie get a blow horn and sound it off in his ear at each opportunity.

Slime like this crosses the line.  What he does is called DEPT COLLECTION ABUSE.  There are statues and rules that govern and protect the general public with any communication from a dept collector that may be presented.  He has called our staff, "[***]" and some other un-choice words.. as he gets a bit cranky when he feels like he has no control with the situation.

Keep a log and record of all encounters with him..date/time/verbal communication.  It is against the law to abuse and threaten and harrass people at their jobs when it causes disruption.  

Also, let the BBB know about Barnaby and Jones - Frank Van Horn.

Another number he uses is 240-795-3451. A Maryland number. Ask for Validation Notice is he calls. After first contact a debt collector is required to send a Validation notice to inform you of the debt.

Received threatning calls; blocked the 855.269.7228 number. Experienced same tactics as mentioned earlier.

Name calling come on!! Called the main number and asked to speak with a supervisor or owner was put through to guess who??? Shane himself...what a professional. Will not let this one go!

A "Doug White" called, insisting he had an appt w/the owners to take inventory of company investments, on behalf of "Shaun Prescott". Demanded to be given access to our office and claimed he'd have an "officer" and a court order w/him.  He was abusive and threatening.  We have no knowledge of any such claims or persons.

This guy just called me with the same claim that me and him had an appt and no matter what i told him he insisted on coming by our office today.  does any one have any advice on how to stop this from happening???

I just recevied a call from Doug White.  Can anyone tell me if Doug White really showed up to your office?

Doug White called us too saying he represented a Mr Snow and was coming by to do an asset inventory.  Course he never showed because I believe they are out of Texas.  All you have to tell them is you have an attorney and give them your attorney's phone number.. then hang up.  If they call again, hang up again.  They have NO right to go through your books or assets and I wouldn't of let them on our property even if they did show up.  No trespassing.  The Sherriff would of been called.  They are pushy and liars.  I get a laugh with how professional they try to sound when all they are like the guy above said is DEBT COLLECTION ABUSERS.   Stay strong!  And remember to hang up.. : )

Call the Sherriff if he comes for trespassing.  Its a tactic to throw you off balance.  Scare you into paying or doing what they say.   Its laughable how desperate they are to get you all upset so you'll do anything to get them off your back.  Call the Sherriff.

I'm having the same problems with Frank Van Horn.  Does anybody know if he is even an attorney as he claims to be?

I have been getting calls about an 8 year old debt my husband has already settled from a Barnaby and Wolf debt collector. He has called me from about 18 different numbers and I have a phone number spam tracker on my phone. He has called me at work and I have blocked him from my cell many times, he keeps getting a new number. I have also reported his tactics to the Better Business Bureau and have read many complaints about this company's abuse of debt collecting power and how they do not adhere to national guidelines. Barnaby and Wolfe is a collection agency mostly for YPD accounts. If you have someone scare you into thinking they have an attorney don't worry, they don't have attorney's in the office at all. The only attorney's are in the other suites. Yes, they spoof you, make it seem like they are in the area or you will have them threaten you with showing up. Don't worry they are no where in the area. Also no litigation department, it's all collections. There is no attorney in the building as they claim or in the "other department". They pay employees $8 and change to start and they have to pay for valet out of pocket, otherwise it's $120-$300 a month in parking fees. Also they don't take money out of check for taxes, so try to save some money if you can to pay taxes at the end of the year. Got a phone call early in the morning.

The number appeared to be local.

Supposedly a  Private Investigator who said he had an appointment that morning to see Tax Returns, take pictures and get a Profit and Loss statement.  That was impossible because the person they asked for a different person then me. I have had my number for 20 years.  Said it was the result of a lawsuit.  

Said the appointment was made by an attorney and that the appointment could be rescheduled.
Gave the phone number of 866-766-1257.

In calling that number it was answered Barnaby and Wolfe which led me to this page

bc like I said... they lie. No attorneys at Barnaby and wolfe....they (mr noland) used this company name and liars like Brandon James (true name which he goes by the name of 'Frank Vanhorn' even when hiring he uses the fake name) and reason they moved to downtown...to make you believe it's an attorney business...to lie and tell you they are 'detectives'. record the calls and you will have hit jackpot bc iwill testify for you :-)
