Scammers, don't answer

Caller said from Enterprise Car Rental.

I received a call from 855-274-3052

They asked for me by name and I asked who was calling.

He gave me his name, which I missed and that he was from Subaru finance.

I just bought a Subaru, so it has some sense of legitimacy so far.  He stated that since I had a fraud alert on my credit report that he needed to confirm my identity.  I told him since he had called me and I really had no idea who he really was that there would be no sharing of personal information.  He said he would note that on his report.  I asked what was the purpose of the call since my financing was already in place.  I did not get a satisfactory answer.  I told him to email his request to which he responded that they were not allowed to use email.

Based on the conversation as a whole I would say that this is quite likely fraud and someone that knows I bought a car and have fraud protection or access to some of the personal information was involved.

Similarly they called me and to verify asked if they could text me.  Then asked me for my phone number. I paused and wondered.  You just called me and yet you ask me for a phone number to text me.  I said use the number you just called.  They couldn’t. So I ended it right then and there.

I received a message that saId it was from Subaru finance and they had some questions. I had already financed through the dealership. I did not return the call.

Exact same senario as Ignatz Silverman above. Maria called first and left a reference number.  When I returned call, Maury was the one who asked questions. When I told her I wasn’t comfortable answering, she said she’d call Subaru and have them give me satisfaction it was ok to talk with her. I hung up, called Subaru, they said it was not legit.

Similar situation to Jarod Storm above. Received a call from Chase Bank regarding financing for the Subaru I recently purchased, which Chase Bank is in fact financing. However they said they needed to send me a text to verify my identity. It seemed odd to me since they had called me, but I figured they already had my number so no big deal. While I was waiting for the text to arrive I asked them why they were calling and to verify THEIR identity. They said they couldn't give me any info as to why they were calling until my identity was verified. They gave me a phone number to call back (855-274-3052) and a reference number once I received the text. The text never came and they haven't called back yet. I looked up the number for Chase Auto Finance online and called them, but they couldn't do anything with my reference number. Based on the other comments here, it was probably a scam of some kind.

Got call and voice mail message. Subaru finance. Same issue. Looks like a scam to me!

Same here.  Said there was a question regarding my credit for a Subaru purchase.  I didn't answer.

I got a call from a person named Jason, from Subaru Motors Finance. They called from phone number 844-230-8343. They said they were calling because of a dealership inquiry, and he left a phone number to call back, 855-274-3052, along with a reference number. I contacted the actual Subaru Motors Finance on the phone number listed their website and they informed me no such phone number exists for them. Now the question is; who provided them my information about my purchase?

Just got a call from JP Morgan Chase (caller id)  He told me the underwriters needed to verify info on my finance application.  Asked my cell number which they just called.  He sent me a code. Still, I didn’t feel comfortable answering. He gave me a reference number and that 855-274-3052 number to call back. I did confirm my place of biz.  Not calling back.  Now I see on my cell that the number that called me was 833-326-2716.

If you received a "code" that is a 2 factor verification that you want to change the password to your account.  If you gave it to him then he can change the password and you will be locked out.

We're getting a lease for a Subaru and we got this *text*. My husband thought it was Chase, but I called them and no numbers for auto leases or Credit Journey matched. Text:
 "Hi, this is Lianis calling from Saro Motor Finance. This message is for Nancy Wean to follow up on a recent delicious inquiry. Please call us back at 8552743052. With the following reference number 242781007440. Thank you."

Why would you call Chase up if it told you a different company name?  What is a "delicious inquiry"?

My husband told me to call Chase. I called them directly bc I didn't recognize the phone number as a Chase number. And I don't know why my husband thought it was legit bc *I* don't know Saro Motors and that's NOT my name. And of course I don't know what is a delicious inquiry!! I'm curious who are you??? I see you've responded before to reports.
