- PhilThis number belongs to Landmark, they are a collection company that act like they are from small claims court. It is a scam, and an attempt to collect a debt....i called 855-284-1236 ext-417 and spoke w/ Charles Roma. They also had me on the phone w/ a guy named Jeromy. Don't fall for thier tricks, IT'S a SCAM!!!!!
- cindyMy daughter received calls from the same number 855 284 1236 and 855 510 0793 these numbers belong to Landmark. Said they were a paralegal office getting ready to serve her. Gave a case number and said that if she didnt want this to happen then she needed to pay before noon time today. I called and asked who they were and what state they are in and what the county was that this case was filed in and they refused to tell me anything. She ask them to send or fax her papers to verify all this and they said they could not. They are also calling her job to speak with her boss to find out if a plain clothes or uniform officer should come there to serve her at work. Cops dont serve summons, they have process servers who do that. What a bunch of crap. If this were real and on the up and up then they would have no problem giving you the information and copies of the documents. How do people sleep at nite when they do horrible things. What a world we live in now. :( :(

- SSG| 5 repliesI got the same call from Donna Chevis. She told me that I was going to be served papers for taking out a loan in 2011 with PlainGreen Loans and cancelling the card and bank account. She said that was fraud and I was going to be served. I agreed to pay back $30 bi-weekly. Can I be arrested for cancelling my bank account? I didn't do it because of not wanting to pay the loan. I did it because me and my wife were having problems and I didn't want her to be able to access my checking account. If I don't pay them, will I get charged with fraud?

- DaFox replies to SSG| 4 repliesIf you truly did default on a loan, and want to make it right, contact the original lender.
Defaulting on a loan is not "fraud", you can not be arrested.
Get the physical and postal address of the Donna Chevis caller, if they will not provide it then tell them they are breaking federal law and they have forfeited their claim on you. - SSG replies to DaFox| 1 replyWell, I have attempted to call her back and always get voice mail so I left her a message. Yesterday I called the original loan company (Plain Green Loans) and they told me that the loan was sold to National Credit Adjusters so I called them and then they told me that they sold the loan to Depth Management so I called them and they told me that the loan was sold to National Financial Services. I called them and they never answer, just voice mail. At this point I don't know what to do. If I cancel the debit card then they Landmark will start yelling "fraud" and "theft" again.
- from thesouth| 1 replyI have received the same call : Was told same story: I told them that i would allow a deferred small ( 50.00 )
payment on a prepaid debit card as i had a bad knee jerk reaction to the threat, and that we could arrange the balance - she agreed and told me by doing this I would avoid the service and a total of $1500.00 that they would collect . I called my original creditor ( horizon ) and explained that I had to close bank account due to fraud - they told me debt was sold ( zardam) they after numerous calls ; says debt is sold (national credit adjusters) . I called Landmark - she tell me they bought it - I call NCA again : they say that is not true and
give me another # to call . Call back to Landmark : ask for written proof of debt: She says okay : I get nothing. Call again : get voice mails - she calls back today with a story that they are so big it will take awhile - I told her she has 5 days as per law. if i don't get a validation i am reporting them for breach of federal law .- Caller: Landmark

- Elspeth replies to SSGWell, they might yell "fraud" and "theft", however, everything you've written so far shows that these are scammers. They must MAIL you a debt validation letter showing original creditor, amount owed, date of loan, date of last payment and also whether they are legally entitled to collect said debt in your state. Tell them they must also send a copy of the original contract you signed with the original creditor. If they refuse to do this, tell them they are in violation of the FDCPA and that you will be reporting them to the FTC and your state's Attorney General (and do so).
Do NOT pay them anything unless they show proof that they own this debt! Read up on the FDCPA and learn your rights. Remember, it is up to the debt collector to prove you owe this debt. - Elspeth replies to from thesouthPlease report them to the FTC and your state's Attorney General. They are legally required to MAIL you paperwork proving that you owe them for this debt. If they do not respond, then they have no case against you, and are in violation of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act).

- Landmark victim replies to DaFox| 1 replyDonna Chevis skip traced my family and got to my mother. Who was so afraid because this woman advised that sh was recording her call with an attorney and that I was going to jail for fraud. She advised bank my bank information to my mother so that she could validate the fact that she needed $300 from my mother to save me. This is absolutely too far.
- fed up replies to Landmark victimThis just happpened to me yesterday. My father called me stating that Ms Reed from 1-888-995-9041 Ext: 177 called him stating that she needed to serve me a summons to go to court, and if I didnt call her or get served by her a warrant for my arrest would be sent out and I would go to jail. I called this 888 back and got that this was a cpmpany called Landmark (never did business with them) and when i dialed the extension i then heard Ms. Reed on the voicemail. First things first, I dont know HOW they got my fathers information, as I NEVER used him as a reference for any of my financial debt to the debtors and he lives hours away from me. Second of all, I looked it up the phone number and saw that this place (Landmark) was a scam?? Third of all, this is not the first time a place has done this. Is there a way that people are getting your social and finding out that you have debt and ACTING like they are of some authority? Advice would be greatful, please and thank you.
- Faith PalmerI have had several of these calls, and because they told me that I was at risk for getting arrested for attempting to defraud a bank I gave them my bank account debit card number Thus far they have gotten roughly 400$ from me with a final payoff of 600$ this Friday.. Now that I am trying to call the company to cancel any and all transactions and request information they dont have my name on file in their office...Now What??? Call and cancel my bank card that I need this Friday for a trip I'm going on, and wont have access to my account for several days until I return...This is just wonderful... The only reason I did this in the first place was because they had the original debt listed by company, amount and everything.... Help

- mimijWow I received a call this morning from a Donna saying it was fraud by deception case she is handling that my son used my name and SSN to get a loan in June 2012. She told me I would be served a summons to appear before the magistrate judge. She called out my Social and asked was that right. I did not verify it, she got upset gave me this 855-383-2735 ext. 438 phone number with a case number. I called the bank she said the account was opened in to check and there is no record of my name or social being used to open any accounts. People be warned this is a SCAM stay on top of your personal information and check your credit report often.
