Missed call

said they were Verizon and wanted to go over my account info, but sounded like they were calling from a cell phone outside and laughed when I stated that I did not want to give them my account information (so then I hung up).

They told me they were Verizon as well.  They already had my account info and said they were auditing the account since they have new phone packages now.  I actually went through and changed my phone package.  I should actually call Verizon and check my online account info to make sure it was legitimate.  I was very trusting.  He did go over the entire schpeal like those phone sales reps have to do.

My daughter keeps missing these calls as she works nights and sleeps until 3 PM.  These calls from the 855-288-9762 number have been occurring every two days or so this month, each time at about 11:40 AM.  She's woken up by them but is too muzzy with sleep to catch the caller.

Received a call @9:30am, I do not answer from numbers i don't know. Did a www.yellowbook.com  reverse look up and it stated invalid phone number so i google area code 855 and found this site. Added my 2 cents...

Did you confirm? Was it actually Verizon?

I received a call from this number.  However they were trying to contact a friend of mine, who uses Verizon.  But they called my number.  I have ATT as my carrier.  I am listed on my friend's account as a back-up contact.  When I told the guy. I was her neighbor and this number is not hers, the guy said sorry to bother you.  So they are deep into Verizon files.

I contacted Verizon Wireless, it is their number. Here's a copy of my online conversation...

you: Correct. I want to know if the number that called me belongs to Verizon.

They call me every day, but I don't answer since I don't have time to talk to telemarkerters while I am working.  I'm glad to find out who the heck the call is from.  I don't make these kinds of decisions over the phone.  I can check their website for any attractive changes.  I need to see everything in writing.  Thank you for clueing me in.

Any calls from 855 asking for your information is a scam.

It definitely Verizon Wireless.  It's basically them calling you to review your account and see if you want to upgrade.

Why can't they call from a real verizon number that shows up as verizon when they call?

Didn't answer the call as I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know.  But if others say it's Verizon Wireless I will say that my Verizon Wireless contract just expired and they're probably calling to renew or to get me to buy a new phone.  The last time my contract expired they called me relentlessly.

I upgraded yesterday and was called by this number today. I was suspicious... they are calling back today but I am not doing anything though them, just my local Verizon dealer.

I don't want to get unsolicited calls.  I signed up for the right not to receive unsolicited calls, yet this idiot and others call me.

I just got a call from this number too so I called Verizon to check that it wasn't a scam and they actually had the call on file, so it is definitely a Verizon person. They were just calling to go over my account and let me know I could get an upgrade.

Guy called from Verizon.  I told him that I have had Verizon for years and never had a call like this. He went over my account as I had just done a week ago. I had already changed my plan to save me money. He offered me bonus rollover minutes if I added a year to my contract. Absolutely not!!! I have never even come close to using my minutes so why would I want that? Especially if I have to have a longer contract.

Must be a scam. I just got a call from this and another number claiming they are Verizon. Total b/s. people who say it is legit are associate w the scam. Verizon never calls frOm numbers like that
