Sounds like Wells Fargo, got Vmail

Received this call, answered it and it hung up. Redial it, and it claims to be Wells Fargo, but the recording is different. The words used in the recording is off. The Spanish option is also off. Doesn't match what you would hear when calling a Wells Fargo number. This is just a guess, but if you think about it, this is another type of scam asking for you to release your credit cards or bank account because they want you to think you have a late mortgage. This is definitely not Wells Fargo home mortgage department or Wells Fargo.

Man callled saying he's from Wells Fargo. Asked to discuss the terms of my loan, my payment amount, interest rate, etc. to make sure I understood the terms. I told him I don't feel comfortable doing that on the phone. He told me I'll get a welcome packet and if I had any questions after reading the packet to call Wells Fargo. Seemed very suspicious. Why would I not understand the terms of my loan?!  I wouldn't have signed the closing documents unless I understood them.

I received the same phone call and as you did defer detailed questions to after I receive the pack.  That being said in their defense they want to verify you understand since they aren't the ones who closed on the loan - WF bought your mortgage, as they did mine, from the original lender.  If I were WF I would call to verify the details too so that nothing crops up down the road.

I got the same call, but my mortgage has been with them for 2 years now. No need to call and ask if I understand at this late date.

got a call from this 855 number. not sure who it is. if the call isn't important enough for them to leave a message, it isn't important enough to call back or to answer!

They called my work number and said they were wells fargo and for me to call them back. I do not have wells fargo so this has to be a scam of some sort.

They called me today and asked for my Account number or last 4 digits of my social.  When I told them I didn't feel comfortable looking giving it to them since I hadn't verified their number and I was looking for my account number - the call got disconnected.  I called Wells Fargo 1-800 number and they verified that this is not one of their numbers.  Beware!

This is Wells Fargo, and they called to let me know that they purchased my mortgage from my original lender. I had already received a letter from my previous lender informing me of this, so I knew it was accurate. They wanted to go over the details to verify they had the correct information. They did not ask me for any new information. They suggested I contact my insurance company to update the mortgagee clause, and informed me that I will be receiving a welcome packet soon and when the first payment will be due. They also provided me with my loan account number so that I can begin using their online services. NOTHING SINISTER HERE.

The caller told me that there is a change in my loan number and asked me to pay mortgage to that new account number.  SCAM

They have called the past two days and hang up as soon as I answer

This is Wells Fargo - I worked in home mortgage at a smaller lender and often we would sell loans to them. This is a courtesy call from the team to go over terms and conditions and to notify that the loan has been sold to them and that they are taking over as the new lender. The rep simply notified me of the change in service provider and reviewed options relative to the escrow account and ways to facilitate bi-monthly payments and how to go about setting up payment options.

Helpful and non-sinister but always be cautious 1. NEVER tell them anything first ALWAYS ask them to provide the information 2. they called on my work line after calling my cell a few times. I also picked up and then the line hung up immediately which is strange but after I saw this feedback I'm guessing the reps are trained to let calls ring 2-3 times and then hang up b/c they have so many customers to call.

I get 2 or 3 calls from this number on my office line a day.  I don't answer and they don't leave a message.  When I called the number, I got a voice saying it's Well Fargo home Mortgage and it wants me to enter my loan number. As one of the posters says, it is very suspicious because there is no option for Spanish.  If it really was Wells Fargo, they would leave me a message when the cal.  Do not give any personal information to anyone/machine at this number.

Following up on my post, above, I checked http://www.whitepages.com/phone/1-855-328-8602 and they list this number as a "Mobile phone owner," confirming that it is probably not legit.

This is actually Wells Fargo. I called another number off of their website and they did say they tried to contact me. It was a welcome call since they purchased my loan.

It most definitely is Wells Fargo.  If you answer and listen, it is a real person and they are calling to update you on a status change of your loan.  In my case, my escrow account had a shortage (new construction, property taxes increased upon completion of the home) and my bill was going to be adjusted.  I had already received this notification via letter, this was simply a courtesy call.  They did not ask for any personal information, only to talk to me or my wife who are both on the mortgage, to verify we understood the increase, our two options to handle and pay for the shortage (pay the shortage in full, or spread it out over 12 months on our regularly due mortgage payment), and to ask if we had any questions regarding the change.  I was informed that a payment decision was to be made by responding to the letter, selecting the option we choose, and they were not asking for a decision over the phone.  Simple courtesy call, which is rare these days (probably why many posters incorrectly assumed scam) and totally LEGIT.  Call type options below are all negative, there is not a positive option such as courtesy call so it will be left as unknown.

I've been receiving calls from this number 2-3 times per day for 6 days on my work phone.  They never leave a VM.  I called the WF number on the back of my card and they verified that it is in fact NOT a WF number.  When I call it back it asks for my acct number twice.  Since I didn't do that, it then asks for my full SSN.  After I didn't do that, it transferred me to an actual person.  She tells me that it is on fact WF.  HOWEVER, she informs me that their number is 866...  I told her I'm looking at the very number that has called me and that I'm calling back and they are very much different.  I believe that IF you do not share your account or SSN it will redirect you back to an actual WF number.  Very tricky.
