- campmondosame here called me several times, and i inquired who this caller is,a lady named carla instructed me to call this number w/ a case file number.she even called our HR.is this not harrasment?
- Laurel Richardson| 4 repliesMy youngest children are twin boys age 25. On 9/18/2013 at about 5 pm one of my twins future mother in law received a call from a restricted number, in answering it she was told that if my twin Tyler did not return their call they would have a lien put on their property and would be taken into custody. Tyler of course called them, only to find out they wanted my other son Clinton. So Tyler contacted him and Clinton returned their call. He was told he owed 2500.00 on a Capital One CC.
Clinton had gotten a cc from Capital One 7 yrs ago before going to college. The limit was 300.00 of which he hadn't paid unfortunately. He explained he didn't have the money but could he set up a payment plan. She told him they couldn't do a payment plan but if he could pay 700.00 by 9/19/2013, they would drop the collection against him.
While this was happening I myself received a call from a restricted number which I didn't answer. The same lady left a message stating my address and that if I didn't respond papers were waiting at their clerks office to be given to me and that my employer would be contacted.
My son called me in a panick and we put two and two together and came up with it was the same lady and number 855-329-7126.
Not disputing that my son did owe on the cc but I couldn't believe this was legal. To call and threaten people that weren't even liable like my other twin or his future mother law was unbelievable .. let alone an embarassment to my son and future family. They had no right to let anyone know about Clinton's business.
Thank goodness for sites like this I have learned so much about this scam!!!

- Tamianth replies to Laurel Richardson| 2 repliesPlease see my post above! They actually can't do anything like that and its illegal for them to threaten you! Nor is it legal for them to call and say this to others. Read the laws above and follow the steps given over on the side bar under latest articles:
Take steps to fight back and do report them. If you can get a actual address to send them the letters recommended and get a law suit on them, they could end up owing him more! Also, all of you should file reports. - yef replies to Laurel RichardsonThe moron who called you is a scammer. You describe several FDCPA violations in your post. If the nitwit truly had the right to collect the debt, your son would have received mail from them already.
Do NOT give this criminal any information. If you do talk to them again, demand they give you their mailing address (I doubt they will, but you can try.). Then certified-mail them a letter demanding validation of the debt. Sounds like you'd also have good grounds for a lawsuit. - yef replies to Tamianth| 1 replyGMTA ;-)
- Tamianth replies to yefAbsolutely! ;)
- your mumzy| 7 repliessame thing happened to me and i paid. don't really mind it since i did owe the debt but they did contact my cousin and my dad which kinda got me off guard, either way you people should learn to pay ur debt so u dont end up in these situations, its only common sense that you pay back money that you owe, if any of u lend someone 600 dollars ur going to be on their ass if they dont pay u back, same goes for this which is why i didnt mind paying the debt.
- Caller: debt
- ic replies to your mumzy| 5 repliesYou said you owed the debt. Paying a debt that you owe is nothing to brag about. Its those people here who do not acknowledge owing any debt that questions why they are being called. Why should these people pay an alleged debt that isn't theirs? You are implying guilt and since you are just a person who happened to show up here, "snicker snicker", you have no knowledge of who does and who does not owe. I wouldn't pay a dime to anyone over the phone, especially without some very serious written validation. The question not being do I or do I not owe the debt, but do you have the validation and cajones to legally collect the alleged debt in court. If I don't owe it, then you are going to have a tough time coming up with what it takes to collect.
- your mumzy replies to ic| 4 repliesWell very simple, if you don't owe the debt then don't pay it, and if you do then pay it and don't [***] about getting calls for it. [***], with this kind of logic you should all let me borrow 1000 dollars i wont have to pay them back with your guys' mentality. I'm not exactly fond of the idea of them contacting my family or job like some other people but it's money thats being dealt with. If some one owed me money and i couldn't get ahold of them i'd sure as hell be asking there family members about their whereabouts.idk bout there job tho. either way, im glad i payed my debt im not the kind of person who doesn't pay ppl back, or get a credit card knowing that i can't pay it off,
- Willow replies to your mumzy| 2 repliesYa know, people have every right to gripe when they aren't the ones who owe the debt. Why don't you spend a few weeks getting several calls a day for a debt you don't owe, despite having told the company that you are NOT that person they are looking for, and see how you feel about it then.
- your mumzy replies to Willow| 1 replyi can understand that but im talking about those who owe the debt and are bitching about getting scammed. I don't mean to defend these people but then again its only logical, if ur going to use a credit card or borrow money in general, you better expect to pay it back either that or dont borrow money you cant pay back
- IC replies to your mumzyThen knock off the calls and I'll quit bitching. If I was fool enough to loan you 1000 dollars, I would definitely have enough to validate the debt. You owe it, you pay it. If I were to lend you 1000 dollars, unless I can validate the claim, you don't owe me a damn dime. I'm just another voice over the phone.
Of course let's be realistic. I wouldn't be fool enough to lend you 10 dollars much less 1000. You should have paid your bill before it went into collection if you don't like them contacting your family and your job.
You should also be smart enough to know how to handle that type of thing and put a stop to it. That is unless your SCAMMER refuses to abide. If I were their families, I'd put a stop to that too. That is unless you, as the scammer, continued to violate the FDCPA. You sound like the kind of person that would rob granny of her social security and little Johnny of his school lunch money if you thought you could get away with it. Apparently you are the type of person who would get a credit card, knowing that you can't pay it off since you started your posts stating that they had to run you down through your work and family to collect.
You are a piss-ant. You would have to validate your blood type and shoe size to collect off of any intelligent person. - Mike-in-MD replies to your mumzyWhat you fail to understand is that there is no PROOF offered that the caller is the legitimate owner of the debt in question (If there even is a debt owed by the recipient of the calls). The whole reason the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act was created and legislated into law was to protect consumers from extortion and wrongful attempts to collect alleged debts and to prevent harassment. The vast majority of calls from collection agencies reported here on 800notes all violate one or more aspects of that law and very many are nothing but outright scams and attempted extortion by foreign crime syndicates. No one, not even a debtor, should be subjected to the tactics employed by these so called collection agencies.
- Angry| 1 replyPlease BEWARE of this number 855-329-7126. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS.
