- Marjorie BiggsGot a call from this phone number earlier today. They said they were involved in settling a union debate with my former company and just needed the last 4 digits of my social security, which I declined to give them. When they said they already had it, I said they didn't need me then. They said they'd call back tomorrow. Right, as long as I don't have to answer, that's fine.

- Ralph| 4 repliesThe past two months I received a phone call allegedly from the "Class Action Implementation Group"(CAIG), 855-342-2244. A person only identified as Elliot, said that the union "AFGE 1534" has reached an overtime settlement with the U.S.Department of State.
They asked for my e-mail address and sent me a link with a password to enter my name, address, last four of my SSN, in order to mail me a check. It did not smell right, so I deleted the e-mail.- Caller: Class Action Implementation Group
- Ralph replies to Ralph| 3 repliesAs it turns out, the phone call from the "Class Action Implementation Group" (CAIG) 855-342-2244 regarding a class action overtime pay settlement between "AFGE 1534" and the U.S. Department of State is legitimate, including the subsequent email for processing payment.

- Seattle replies to RalphWhy did they call you? I received a letter and they just tried to call me.
- Alison replies to RalphHi Ralph,
did you get any money from CAIG? I just received a phone call and they also sent me a password to get in to their site. - Barb in MarylandI have a robocall device. The phone rang once so I know this was a robocall. If this was legitimate and they were targeting certain specific people for a LEGITIMATE reason, IT WOULD NOT BE A ROBOCALL (with robocalls, they automatically dial countless numbers and then just talk to the first person who answers - this is why people often hear silence if they answer - someone answered the call before you did. And NO legitimate person or organization asks for personal information such as the last 4 digits of your SS number. (By the way, it is possible to identify things such as the state where a SS number was issued by the first 3 digits and the second 2 digits - SO - if you give them the last 4 numbers of your SS number, and they make some educated guesses about where the number was issued based on the first 5 digits (i.e., if they already have your birthdate and other info), then they can narrow down your full SS number.) NEVER GIVE ANYONE PERSONAL INFO OVER THE PHONE - IT WILL END BADLY FOR YOU. JUST DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHO IT IS. FRIENDS OR FAMILY OR LEGITIMATE ORGANIZATIONS WILL LEAVE A MESSAGE.
