I have nothing outstanding with UPS and the account number that they gave was not in my records.
When asked to email a copy of the outstanding invoice, they had harvested our webmaster's email address from our website.

- BTWas called by a human yesterday from this number about a recently failed credit card transaction for my UPS account. They had my UPS account number and the last 4 digits of the credit card on the account. Next day I received an automated call. How did they get this info?

My suggestions are if you receive a phone call regarding your Money Accounts, ect; Just google the phone number first - UPS customer replies to BillI got a message today exactly like the original posters. The UPS account number was correct and I did recently have to cancel a credit card that I had used for automatic billing with UPS in the past. I called the number, the person that answered knew what my outstanding balance was when I gave them my account number. I gave them a new credit card number and they said they would add it to my account. I dont have any reason to suspect that this was a fraud.

Upon contacting UPS (through their listed number) I found out that the account number that was given was accurate, but the phone number given on the message IS NOT an accurate UPS phone number. We do not have an outstanding balance. There was no record of being contacted by UPS recently.
Phishing scams are one thing, but these people apparently have access to accurate account information and are using it to get credit card numbers from people.
I suspect that the post "UPS customer replies to Bill" on 26 Sep 2013 is trying to validate the scam.
DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER, CONTACT THE UPS BILLING DEPARTMENT AT 800-477-7080 (or look up the number for yourself), AND REPORT THIS CALL!
UPS told me that they would file a report, but they did not seem surprised or concerned, it sounds like this is not out of the ordinary.

- UPSer replies to J| 1 replyI work at UPS and I have gotten several complaints/reports about this phone #. This is a call center (outside the US) that UPS uses to contact customers with a declined or expired credit cards on their UPS accounts. I understand the hesitation and can't blame anyone who thinks it's some sort of phishing scam so you can call the 800-477-7080 instead but it is a legitimate phone call. We do have fake UPS scams trying to phish customer information but they are not usually a toll free number but from a Jamaican area code (876) or some out of country area code.

I omitted my account number, but the message had it correct. I contacted UPS using their official number and they verified that UPS was not able to process my payment. I recently received a new credit card in the mail with a new number meaning the previous one on file with UPS was no longer valid. In any case, I recommend calling the UPS official number to inquire about any account changes.- Caller: Toll Free Caller - UPS

- Zamis replies to UPSerIf this is a call center once used by UPS, then somebody there has "gone rogue" and is trying to extract money from people. I received an automated call from this number, checked my UPS account online, and there was NOTHING wrong with my UPS account. My account is billed directly to a checking account (ACH), not a credit card, and that account is fine and has been fine for years. I strongly suggest people do NOT listen to the above person, who is misinformed at best, or might actually be working for the bad guys. Calls coming from this number are fraud. Not some misunderstanding or well meaning person with bad information. Fraud. DO NOT call these people and give them any personal details.
- LindaI have received several of these calls, each one the same, each one correctly identifying our UPS shipper number, and I never called the number they mention in the recorded message. Instead, I called UPS billing at 1-800-811-1648 (Patrice) to inquire about any issues with our account. They said everything is fine, and that they are aware of these scammers, but she wasn't aware that they have access to customers' shipper account numbers. She said she will immediately contact the proper authorities to bring that to their attention. Best thing to do is block this number.
- PaulThey are still at it. I do not owe UPS as they debit my account directly. Did not even pick up as usually google a number first. This website saved me the trouble of answering and hassling with this.
- MaxJust called the number and it's UPS alright. I had an expired credit card so my UPS invoice got rejected since I have it setup for aut. payment. I had updated my new card online in my UPS billing account but the invoice happened just between the old and new card. It's a legit number.

- MarieJust got a call from a Private number, but listened to the automated message and this number was given in it. Checked my UPS account and it's fine. It's a scam. This is actually the 2nd phone call like this in the past couple of weeks.
