I received a letter from Loan Modification Associates, presenting themselves as a law firm representing people who are eligible for a government sponsored loan modification. They had my name, address, lender name and supposed principle balance, which is nowhere near their value. I called only to ask where they obtained my information and was told it was public record. The guy then proceeded to be very rude to me when I declined their services. "Well, you're obviously not listening..." In the snarkiest voice ever! Then he hung up on me. I called back to ask for his information as I will be reporting them and he actually yelled at me saying if I didn't want people sending me letters, I shouldn't have fallen behind on mortgage. Really?? This guy doesn't know me or my situation and obviously does not want to help people!!!

The letter itself that I have gotten from them shows me how extremely deseptive they are. After it continuously tells you all the things you are entitled to and elgible for in big bold print it then in fine print at the very bottom  says find out which of the above you are entitled to (I already have confirmation that I am entitled to none of this). So this is why they call it junk mail.

My letter came with handwritten address and no return address on the envelope. The sole enclosed page was one-sided. It contained info described by others here, but with no fine print as one person noted.
The promises of slashing principle balance by hundreds of thousands, 70% reduction on payments, while not having to pay any past owed money, all add up to...
SCAM CITY.
It's rather comical.

I to received this letter but without the fine print glad I looked up the information before I called. Times are hard enough without monster trying to cheat you.

Looking over the dates, looks like these guys have been at it for awhile. Got my letter and same phone # in October 2015.  Can't post Office use this as a mail fraud case?   Just as a note, their offer of $150K is more than the price of the house, maybe I could make some money off them??? :)

I too got a letter this past week (3/2016) and they told me I would be entitled to get up to $150K reduction. I don't even owe that much so I too could make some good money on this deal.They have my fair market value less then what my city has listed on my taxes.? So if this is public record you would think they would have the correct information on the letter. They should be ashamed that they are doing this, I lost my job and 3 yrs later finally got a good job and now my Lender said I make"To MUCH" and not eligible for help!!  The address that is listed on the back of my letter is:
