- CRGot the same old song and dance that they always give. I was bored so I decided to call them back. They offered to settle everything right now for $500 or they would file there lawsuit for $2000. The guy on the phone made other seem like he was literally holding back the person who was going to file the suit. I told them that what they are doing is illegal and we can go to court. I asked again when I would be served my papers and he stated Wednesday(process servers don't inform you when they are coming, kinda defeats the purpose.) Just another scam company trying to get anyone they can to fall for their extortion tactics.

- QuiverGot a voice mail from Joseph, blah blah, (couldn't understand his last name) he did sound white/american though. The number that came up was 860-254-4148, he stated he was from Legal Services and that they had tried several times to contact me but because I have chosen to ignore the situation thus far, I needed to call 855-447-8388 today, or my file would be turned over and I'd be served legal papers at either my work or home. He stated that my file number was 58797-last 4 of my ssn. He called me 3 times in a row this morning and then called my ex husband 4 times in a row. Trying to find out if this is legit, wondering if I should just call them....any advice?

- Mandy BThese people continue to call me over a payday loan that my ex-husband took out jointly in my name. I did not sign ANY loan documents. I did phone them back, and was told that they had served me with papers on 2/23/2015, which they did not. I was told that since I was choosing to ignore the situation, they would turn over my file for court. When I questioned the validity of this, Robert, started yelling at me, and told me this was my fault for marrying a loser who would steal my information and take out a loan in my name. He stated that I was still responsible, and he didn't care that this was fraud. He was very rude and nasty. They have also phoned my family, and disclosed information about the debt - told my brother that I had provided a credit card for $900 which was declined. I did no such thing, and aside from that, it is illegal for debt collectors to disclose specific information related to the debt - they are allowed, per my understanding, to ask about contact information for the debtor.

- RLJ| 1 replySame thing with me, it was a woman who left me a voicemail about being served, said the county name all wrong and then told me to call the 855 number, i called it and spoke to a Jim Bass. The man was rude, didnt even have the right information, when i tried to explain to him about it he was stating he would see me in court. Me trying to make sure that everythig is legit i called and asked what address he had for me (just in case) and he wouldnt even give me that information. Got to the point where he was just trying to talk over me and then he hung up. Called the other number and it was his voice on the voice mail. Funny thing is I never had a payday loan like he claims.

- BT| 2 repliesMelissa Reynolds called my parents in Louisiana saying they were going to serve me papers on March 20. Claiming they're from the Harrison County Legal Office (I don't even live in Harrison County). So I called1-855-447-8388 and some guy answer and said I owe money but we can settle out of court. I told I don't know what this is and he pretty much said good luck in court and hung up the phone.

- BigA replies to BT| 1 replyThis is a known scam and they are trying to scare you into paying them extortion money.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
