The ORIGINAL number they are using to actually call ME is: 727-499-0769 I was told to call the 855

progress until I started Googling and wound up "here"... Oh well...
Forcefully tried to tell me my deceased Mom's Readers Digest had expired. (It was still good for about
19 months). They told me they wanted to check or verify? the CC number and add $90 to "the bill", but
IF I waited till Monday it would be $180. Total SCAMMERs. BEWARE!!! BY THE WAY... I was given
the number referenced "here", called several times, and no one answers. Voice-mailbox-full. (Or similar.)- Caller: The caller was identified as a AMER. READERS

- Deb| 2 repliesI received a call from the Visa Fraud department about an unauthorized charge of $259.99. It was from American Readers. Visa closed my account and issued a new card. A month later, I received my Master Card invoice with a charge of $259.99 from Mags 45 LLC. I did not recognize the company or charge. I called the number on the invoice (855-455-6205) and the company that answered the call was AMERICAN READERS. I do not know how they got this card number which is now being closed and a new card is being issued. I have been trying to get them to stop calling me two years. I have not authorized any magazines and have threatened to report them to the Federal Trade Commission. This will be my next step

- RobertSame has been happening to my 90 years old mother. Changed here credit card three times now. It hasn't stopped. There are numerous other telemarketers. Send out solicitations that appear to her as a renewal notice. Some marketers respond(maybe). Unable to contact some, or 60 days have passed, and they just hang up on me.

- JoyceI have just been called by American Readers. When I said I wanted to stop TODAY any more magazines, The person said she was a supervisor and that she COULD not stop it. I had already received magazines and that it would be in the neighborhood if $1,000. When i angrily said I would not pay and did not ask for all the magazines, she indicated she could do nothing.

- Barbara StreeterThey charged my 95 year old mother in law $239.99 on her Visa. I also talked to Ginger...so nice, it would be taken care of. That was 3 months ago. Called again last month, got no credit, called today and got the run around. "She would turn it into accounting". Now I am looking into them on internet and find all these other complains. They truly are a scam, experts in the run around. I will try to follow up with someone to report fraud. What a sad thing that they prey on older people like this.

- Jo Ann replies to DebDo it! And also call the better business Bureau, and tell them you are contacting your lawyer. They finally removed the charge and a week later there was another charge on my bill (checked my card on lime) and the charge was deleted before the day was out! This company charges exorbitantly high prices for magazines and preys on the elderly. They send a sample mag and enclose a card that says "Return this card if you do not want this magazine, other wise it will be sent to you." Well, we DID return the card and we still got billed for $129.99. How I wish I had made a copy of that card, and noted the date. When talking to the credit card co during the recovery process she put the MAG co. on the line they sad they had the last three #'s of my credit card! During the conversation, I heard that our Battle Creek Enquirer newspaper had been billed through this Co. We had stopped the newspaper several months before. I think that is how they got our card #!
- Kay replies to LoriMy 92 year old mother- in -law experienced what you all have described to the tune of two charges of $239.99! We live in Wyoming so I called our Attorney General's office. He advised me to call Florida's AG, which I did. However, I was told my call could not be completed from my location! So if any of you live in Florida or close, here is the number:1-866-966-7226. Good luck. I hope these crums can be stopped
