    Just "M"
They called a distant cousin of mine and told her that they were going to sue me, that they had my phone number and work phone number but wanted to give me a chance to pay them voluntarily before they sue me. Interesting that if they have all of this information they did not call me. I called them back at 855-464-4020 and spoke to some idiot named "Stan" of the Providence Company (that I cannot find on the Internet). I told Stan that I was not the person he was looking for and he says to me that if I am not then I have nothing to worry about but if I am the person and am just telling him that I am not, that things can come back on me and that if I am not him there is nothing to worry about but if I am the person he is looking for then good luck cause things can happen to me (yes, he really said this). I wished him good luck as well and hung up.

This scumbag named JT Thompson told me that I had (2) bad checks floating around (mind you ~ I pay everything online, and haven't written a check in over 5 years) and I needed to call someone to discuss this issue. He also asked me for my SS# (as if) and then said I was officially served - OVER THE PHONE!!!! NOT!!!! Really rude guy, very unprofessional and a major scammer!!

Call from this number (probably in cahoots with 877-861-1418 of Advanced Mac Cleaner) is
    involved in a scam that:

    1. Spoofs you from a website to allegedy upgrade Adobe Flash on your Mac Computer.

    2. If you click anywhere on their screen (even "not interested") your is immediately compromised
with their malware: worrisome messages appear all over your compter even after restart.

    3. They masquerade as Apple, despite an Indian accent.  You first chat with them online, and soon they call your phone number from 855-464-4020, and connect with your Mac remotely. They say they'll clear up the mess all the time you're trusting they'll Apple. All seems OK until they claim your best option is to pay them $169.99 to remove Malware (theirs) from your Mac.

    4. We didn't believe them so called "real" Apple who rapidly cleared up the mess by removing the culprit Advanced Mac Cleaner App, clearing history, cache and checking privacy settings, at no cost.

We hope this helps prevent this illegal scam, altho apparently it's based overseas.

Same story as Almost Scammed.  Only my husband fell victim.  They asked for $340 to clean pc Pegasus virus.  Started as pop-up...different menu bar.  Visa Fraud called 2x, emailed 1x and phoned 2x.  Set up alerts with your credit card providers

Yes, but you let them into your computer and all the information that was one there is not compromised.  User names, passwords, contacts, banking info, everything.  To make matters worse they probably install malware such as spyware or keylogging.  You need to get that computer cleaned out and to change all your user names, passwords, etc and warn your contacts as well.  Do not do those changes from that computer!
