Numerous people I know have been getting harassed by a woman named Sheri Downton who claims she is a fraud investigator.  She called my minor child, told him I was going to be hauled off to jail over fraud, and threatened legal actions against numerous other people.  She said that they would be pursuing legal action against numerous people connected to me (though most I have no contact with), and have apparently already contacted several.

When I called to address her directly, she claimed to work for "the state."  She did not specify any details beyond her claim of being an arbitrator, and that they were working out of a local county and filing there.  She had numerous discrepancies such as claiming I had received a payday loan ~801 days ago in a city that I had never even visited during that time frame, and that some of these counties were in completely different states.  After pressing to find out what department she worked for, she maintained they worked as state arbitrators and attempted to deflect my questions.  When asking for payment, I was that they would only take bonded payments such as visa, mastercard, or prepaid debit.  "The corporation will only accept it over the phone for your protection."  Naturally, I inquired about what corporation she works for.  She claimed that she was from a law firm called Williams & Associates out of a nearby county, nor are there any records of such a firm in any of the counties that she mentioned.

A quick google search and phone call later, it turns out the law firm has no record of any such individual.  After doing numerous reverse lookups, absolutely no records turn up.  There is no record of who owns this number, no record of where they are located, etc.  Fair warning: a law firm, arbitrator, or any other legitimate company would need to maintain some sort of record to be contacted.  Likewise, threatening legal action is illegal, as I'm sure is making those threats to 10 year olds.

I got a call from a person stating they were a private investigator and had my personal information when I asked her to give me her name employee number and address to mail her what she needed she changed her attitude and hung up

This lady Sheri Downton just called. Asking me to give the last for of social etc. I refuse to give her any info asked told her if you are calling why would i give you info. Told her she is the fraud and scam. I told her to send something in mail if she has info., she said they don't mail anything. I said well sounds like your not legitimate. I told her send what she has to the courts and they will send me something in the mail. She then hung up the phone.
