Called on a Sunday, Aug 3, leaving voicemail that stated I needed to call an 855 number immediately. Said they had to talk to me about my (non-existent Emergent Services account. That VISA and MasterCard required this due to the"breach." (?) When I called, got shuffled to voicemail asking me to leave a response and my name and number.

Right, sure, I'll be doing that soon.

Call came in to business, left message.  "Hi This is NIcki, I am calling about your merchant services account. There is a mandatory update set by Visa and Mastercard due to the recent Target breach.  Please call me back 855-496-3277. "
I called back the 800 # for my merchant services account and there was an update that needed to be processed for my credit card terminal.

There was a message left on the voice mail at my business:  "Hi this is Nikki, and I'm calling about your merchant services account.  There is a mandatory update Visa and MasterCard has set as it relates to the recent Target breach.  Please give me a call back at 855-496-3277 -- again that number is 855-496-3277.  Thanks and have a great day."  I was suspicious, since she did not identify the company for whom she was calling (unless that company's name is "Merchant Services," in which case we do not have an account with them, anyway), but I did call the number to check.  All I got was a message saying something to the effect of, "The customer service representative you have called is busy, please leave your name, number, and a brief message."  Once again, there was no identification of what company I had called, so I hung up without leaving a message, and decided to search Google for the number they had wanted me to call.  I didn't find much on this particular number, which is why I felt compelled to record my experience here, but I did find numerous warnings from people who received the same message, except requesting they call 855-496-3278, which is just the next phone number in sequence, and likely the same company/scammer.  You can read those warnings here:  https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-855-496-3278

Called ID showed 210-563-7177.

I got the above message and believe that it was not creditable. Because of calls like this I don't answer the phone when I don't know who it is.

I found several comments and cut and pasts "Doug's" b/c it was exactly the same and so well stated. Got the identical message today and caller ID the same as you listed.  Will check with my real merchant services account t9 be sure.

I received a phone call from 855-496-3277 saying they were my Merchant Service account.  They are not and my Merchant Account is not looking for any information from me.  Obviously, it's a scam or clever sales call.

Brain dead uneducated country such as america begats generated low skill jobs such as telemarketers.

Caller is a FRAUD / SCAM, we have no such account to update. Details exactly as above except that caller ID shows 210-563-7117.

Sunday 10/12 I got the same call, same message & numbers from Nikki.  Checked here and did not call back.

"fishing" call for sure.  

Telemarketer called from (210) 563-7117 and asked me to call 855-496-3277 to discuss changes to my Visa MasterCard Merchant Account.  OK lady.  I'll call you right back. in a jiffy.

I am dealing with this issue as well.

telemarketer - merchant services. call received from 210.563.7177 , i did not answer. they left a message to return their call to 855.496.3277 about updates to merchant services accounts.

Sunday, November 2, 2014, we received the same call. It was odd to receive this type of call on a Sunday, so I decided to wait and do some research. The caller identified herself as Nicki and said she was calling from Merchant Services about our business accounts and the recent Target breach. We have never used our business accounts at Target!

Monday, November 3rd, we were contacted by a Nicki of Merchant Services, 855-496-3277, said machine needs to be updated due to Target breach. Please call back.  This message was taken by one of my colleagues.   I called my Merchant Service directly and she said they had not called us and it was a scam.   What is scary is it looks like this person calls and puts there name with whatever company you are currently with.

11/9/14 Got the same message from our friend Nicki at the oft-quoted 855 496 3277 for "Merchant Services." Smelled a rat and called MY credit card company to discuss. I was assured that they had nothing to do with the message and if I had 3-way calling AND if our friend Nicki ever called again I could put her on hold, call my credit card company and let them talk to her. I believe Nicki is a recorded message but it's an idea if any of you ever gets an actual human calling you. Also, I wasn't sure if an 855 area code was toll-free and wasn't about to call and find out or have them see on their caller ID that I'd called.

1/10/14 Message on our voice mail from "Nicki - Merchant Services" the exact message that each of you received, so it must be recorded. I'm not real trusting when it comes to giving information over the phone, so I went straight to Google to check.

Received message on machine on a Sunday from 210-587-1489 with caller ID of "The Bank Card".  Message stated her name was Lucy and she was with Bankcard Group and was calling regarding my credit card processing account.  She stated that Visa and MasterCard deemed my business high risk and that I needed to call back this week.  My merchant is Bankcard USA, so she used that ploy to sound like she was affiliated with my current processor.  She told me to call 855-496-3277.  I have a direct line to my account manager at my processing company and would have received the call directly from him or been contacted via email, so this made me suspicious.  Also, the fact that they called my business on Sunday made no sense, so I searched this number and saw that this number has been reported several times.  I did not call the number she left.  I have received several of these scam calls lately, just different names and different tactics to get a return call.
