- LOL| 2 repliesI got a few calls from the following numbers:
(855) 999-5539
(855) 498-0093
(702) 398-0509 < this was phone number that they first used to contact me...However when I called that number back it was disconnected, so then I called one of the 855's they left on my voicemail. They claimed that I had 24hrs to call them or they were going to serve me "papers" for failure to pay. They also claim that they would come to my workplace, and or home to serve these documents. So I called back to see what all the hype was about...this was how the conversation went down:
Them: National Service Center this "some lame name"
Me: Yes, I'm trying to reach ext 422
Them: Who am I speaking with
Me: I need ext. 422
Them: Yes ma'am but can you verify the number that we called.
***I verified my number as requested***
Them: Ok, great and is this XX (says my name)
Me: Yes, now can I get ext 422
Them: Ma'am just hold on!!!! (is she mad or nay)
Me: Yup!
***puts me on hold***** So now I'm at Level 20
Them: She's on with another a call, do you mind waiting
Me: Nope! I'll wait
***puts me on hold***** So now I'm at Level 50
Then Them#2 come's on the phone
Them#2: Yes this is Amy (something like that) thank you for holding, how may I help you?
Me: Just returning your call, you left a message to call, so I'm calling....
Them#2: Ok and for security reason can you verify your last 4 XXXX
Me: Yup! that's it (now I'm a little worried)
Them#2: Ok well we're trying to collect a debt from payment that was ........(I cut her off)
Me: I'm sorry who are you?
Them#2: I said that we are a debt collecting agency National Service Center, and .....(cut her off again)
Me: I got that, but who are you calling for, on the behave of what company, who do I owe this supposed debt to??????
Them#2: Ma'am it was from 2years, (lie #1 but keep going) and it was deposited into your account.
Me: Wait!!!! are you saying that something was deposit into my account, and what account?
Them#2: It was a FC**** (something I don't even know what she said, I was already at level 9999999999)
Me: Look! I don't own no such account, never heard of this company you name, and that my dear is not reflecting on any documents that I have. So I know that this is some scam.
Them#2: Oh so this is a scam huh? A scam?
Me: Yup a scam, and you know it
Them#2: hangs up

- Camren Lopshire replies to LOL| 1 replyI just want to thank you and all the others that have called these people and recorded your experience online. You have helped tremendously. I blocked their number and they change it. I block the new number, and they change it again. I think it's time for me to change my number. Thank you again.
- Camren Lopshire| 1 replyThis is a total scam. They have called me from 3 different numbers because I keep blocking them. They are even calling my ex wife! My best guess is that they have somehow purchased my information from a hacker or a shady company. Ignore them until they quit.
- Caller: "General Mediations Law Firm"
- Call type: Debt collector
- 855-498-0093| 1 replyAt first they said they were National Service Center & then they changed it to General Mediation group.
They were adamant on collecting a debt that I had already paid off long ago but they refused to send me a letter of validation through the mail
I asked for their address for verification purposes, which they had no problem giving me but when I asked for their professional license number they put me on hold & hung up on me.
I called back & said I wanted their professional license number to verify that they were a legitimate business & they said that I hurt his feelings & no longer wanted to speak to me. LOL
Obviously a scam.
I reported them to the FTC so hopefully the calls will stop!- Caller: National Service Center/ General mediation group

- BigA replies to ShepardThis is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number. Now why would a “process server” want to do you, a stranger, a favor, and at the same time not get paid to deliver the papers?
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I already know its a scam. I am also getting a lot of fake calls from the 202 area code (DC). They are not really in DC. Same M.O. Beware if you get these too.- Call type: Debt collector
- LOL replies to 855-498-0093When I asked them about the name change they said that was their sister company. LOL!!!
- LOL replies to Camren LopshireNo problem.. it's crazy they called me again today and now their going by a different company name.... SMH
- MarieI have been receiving calls from "General Mediations" for the past 2 months. As with the other callers, I received a message that I had been "officially notified" regarding an outstanding debt prior to initiation of criminal charges. They claim they represent "Titan Group, LLC" and that money had been deposited into my account 2 years ago and I had not paid it back. They were giving me an opportunity to make restitution prior to criminal charges. It's a scam. You don't serve "official notice" by phone.

- C WCalled and claimed I took a pay day loan out in 2011. That I owe $1500. They said if I couldn't pay it they would take me to court and come after my pay, house and car. They also called my father and were rude. Said they would be taking me to county court. When I know anything that low goes though the district justice. They also had my ex mother in laws name and information, which I have been divorced since 2004 from her son, and they had my mom's name and information.

- Regina I.| 7 repliesI think that I have been scammed. I received the same call from 1-855-498-0093. I but that it was legit because unlike the other calls, the person actually mentioned the county where I resides in. It frightened me so much that I complied and set payments. Now I feel used. What should I do?

- Alfalfa replies to Regina I.| 6 repliesIf you used a bank credit card, there is a good chance you will be able to get your money back. Notify them that you have been targeted and scammed by criminal extortionists, have them to close your account NOW and issue you a new card. If you used a prepaid card, you will never see your money again.
- Regina I replies to Camren LopshireThat's the same company, General Mediation, that called me on 6/29/15. They sounded legit and scary.
