They say that they are a debt collection agency don't know if they are real or fake

Got a message from John Scott, sound familiar, like he's connected to some other scam mesages we have received

They stated they needed to serve papers regarding a case against me.

received a call from 855-529-7602   and from 724-387-9202 from Tammy lewis that I will be receiving papers regarding a case against me.

if you were going to be "served" you would not get a head start.

to I ignore this.  I really don't want them to come to work.

Would this just be uncollected debt.  

It is a scam. They get your private information from any previous loan you have taken or if someone tried to take a loan out in your name. They then reference a particular date that you took one out and say that you are being served for breach of fraud or something along those lines. They will then tell you that they have a "private locator" searching for you in your area and will call anyone you are related to and your employer in an effort to scare you so you will settle up and pay them what they want. They will tell you that once you pay, the "private locator" will stop looking for you. This "private locator" will call from an area code that is the same as yours but according to my states attorney general office, these scammers use a Spoof program that can disguise an area code. I just told them that they are being reported to the FTC and my state attorney generals office and notified my relatives that if they get a call from these numbers to ignore it. It sucks but don't get dooped into paying and just ignore them. All of these tactics they use are illegal anyway.
