This is a debt collector and they are threatening. They have notifed not only family members but family members friends. Sounds like a lawsuit ready to happen as I specified to them. They blame it on a "locator"
If the "locator" can find friends why can't they find the person. They are not hiding.  So sick of these people.

They have been calling me as well!  They also called my family members.  They claim to be a Collection Agency for Credit One Credit Card.  When I pulled my Credit Report today my Credit One Credit Card Account was charged off by Credit One.  So, this Collection Agency is NOT allowed to call and try to collect on this!  I have some things I have to take care of this morning BUT in a little bit I am going to sit down here at my computer and type up a script of what I am going to say (so I do not forget anything).  Then I will be making a call to them and telling them off to ensure they never call me or my family members again.  I am going to start by asking Who the person is that answered the phone first and last name (then writing it down), then I am going to find out what their complete address is (then writing it down) then I am going to threaten them with a law suit once I get all the necessary info I need.  By the time I am finished with them they won't know what the hit them I will be also reporting them to the FBI and FTC.

I just got a call from a so called process server who was so surprised that I had not previously been contacted about this.  I called the # back that he gave me and found out that it was from Consolidated about a Credit One Bank credit card that I haven't been paying on.  Told him to send me something in writing and he said that Credit One had already done that.  I told him to send me something saying his company was collecting and he said that they were not a collection agency but the litigation department.  Yeah right.  Told him since husband lost his job, credit cards are at the bottom of the list of getting paid.  Claims that since I had only took it out in January and had quit paying that it was considered fraud and breach of contract.  Told him to quit calling me at work and hung up.

Called me regarding claim on my ex-wife who passed away.  They said the name of the company is Consolidated.  Google search revealed no such company.

Called my family members over and over again.  Intimdated my Son into disclosing my number and then when left me a number they stated I was named in a claim.  I am divorced and was left with all of the debt.  I have been struggling with health issues and have been unable to catch up on my bills.  The reality is I must survive on what little pay I have been receiving and these people act as if they have priority to my life's needs.  This has to stop.  We are all in this economy together and must work together.  PLEASE STOP THE HARASSMENT.   I will research to what are my rights and how to handle such people.

This company has called, threatened litigation to my employees who refuse to give him information about a family member, which they don't have any way--but still, they have been unmercifully harsh. They won't tell me who they are, just want to serve some papers.

What kind of "papers" do they want to serve? Didn't say, did they? If they call again, ask them — they'll try to avoid the question because it's illegal to threaten arrest or legal action when attempting to collect a debt. That's why they say "papers" instead or a real legal term like "summons". They think if they frighten people with this nonsense they'll avoid prosecution because they "technically" aren't threatening legal action. I doubt a judge would buy it but you never know...

Refusing to identify themselves is also illegal. This is an indication that you may not be dealing with a debt collector at all but rather a criminal scam posing as a debt collection agency. You should probably notify the police.

Bottom Line: These are rude, evasive people who will try to pry information from you, but will tell you as little as possible about themselves. I received a threatening call for a person I didn't know. I called back as I was concerned with identity theft. The only info I could get is they are called CONSOLIDATED and are a pre-litigation firm. They apparently subcontracted to a "locating company" which somehow got my phone number. I asked for their website, they said they don't have one ! The people I spoke with, Sam Green and his Supervisor Danielle, were both extremely nasty. Don't give these people ANY information.

Number called my sister, left a message that stated that I had a claim being filed against me, gave me a case number, a number to call, and asked for me to verify my residency and place of employment! All from a message! My sister never called them back. I received the same message but from a different number 8152642193 stating the same things. Never gave me a company name. Woman who left the message sounded very demanding and threatening. No idea who they are (woman does leave her name but I forgot it) or what they are trying to do.

Before they can take you to court they have to provide you with some kind of notification in writing.  I was just reading up on the Fair Debt Consumer Protection Act (FDCPA) and it states that they are required to send you something in writing within 5 days of the initial phone contact if you request it.  That in turn gives you 30 days from the receipt of it to ask for verification.  And of course they will always say that they don't have to but they do.
