Caller says they are from Microsoft. Our computer has been hacked, there is a problem they need to fix???¿??????

No Jim. Microsoft will NEVER call you-you call THEM. The person who called you was a scammer trying to get into your computer to mess with it in various ways, like stealing your bank information, installing viruses, locking files which you then have to pay and may or may not get unlocked, or other things of that nature. Only a technician who is licensed or people YOU trust (besides yourself if you know how to fix this kind of thing) should be touching your computer-not some stranger that calls and claims they're from Microsoft.

Large sign on computer saying that computer hacked and needed to call this number for tech support. Could not delete sign .  Called and was told they were Microsoft tech and the computer was hacked and my bank information  and all information was being stolen and I should have it repaired at once. I did and paid with credit card which I stopped payment on. Now realize it was a scam.

sara banta, i just did the same thing. :( only discover will not let me stop payment. i had to close my card so that they can not keep charging it.  i do not understand how they froze my computer, i had no way to get out of it.'

Rules:

1.  Never wire money to anyone you do not personally know.
2.  Never allow anyone you do NOT know to get access to your computer.

They did not call me, I was trying to get to Microsoft, this page popped up that looked like the real thing with this # on it. I had been having trouble, running slow,after I talked with him he did take the bug off, He gave me a name Harris,  employ ID;-MS-2006   He said they were located in Fl. somewhere  around West Palm Beach.
