- Canace LeeReceived a call from this number and then they called my job and work not say anything. We have caller ID and know the phone number.

- KR| 7 repliesI get a call from them at least 5-6 times a day On the DO NOT CALL list and I am going to get a hold of them because this is HARASSMENT
- JohnCalled me and hung up when I answered they hung up. When I called back some Indian guy answered and I told them that I was who they were asking for then wouldn't tell me who they were as he continued to try and "verify" my information. I told them I was not giving anymore info until he told me who he was and what the call was about. It turned out to be some collection agency for Direct TV, They told me they would take 50% of what I owed and would take it off my credit report, not just mark it as paid. I hope they stick to their word for their sake.
- Caller: Collection for Direct TV
- Call type: Debt collector
- Simple replies to Chele| 3 repliesIf you have an Android phone, go to the market place and look for a free app called "CallFilter" (no quotes) there you can block any number you wish. It gives you two block options - first one is straight to voicemail, the second is "pick up and hang up" which means it answers the call for you, but immediately hangs up on them so they don't have the chance to leave a message.
Either way, you'll never hear your phone ring. - John| 1 replyI received a phone call from these people calling themselves Focus Receivable Management, it seemed a illegitimate call so I paid them by setting up a payment arrangement, They pulled the money out of my account and I thought it was over this is back in November and they called me back This month saying they need more money. I ask to receive some paperwork on their business and what they have received as I have worked off of faith that they are collecting on a debt for Direct TV. The Indian guy gets very angry and hangs up on me I call back and he wants to argue with me. I think I am within my rights to ask for some kind of paperwork. If this is a hoax I am out a lot of money and they have way to much info on me.
- Caller: Focus Recieveable Management
- Call type: Debt collector
- Rob replies to JohnBefore they rip you off again, close the account you gave them the previous payments from. No matter how inconvenient it is. They will continue to try to con you out of money,
Just as an fyi, not only are you "within my rights", any legitimate company would be glad to do so, and collectors are required to do so by law when asked. And, even if it may have been a legitimate debt, there are statutes of limitations (SOL) on debt like everything else.
See http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/statue-limitations.html
Best pracctice: even if you think it might be yours, always say that you deny the debt, unless you can see proof in writing that it is yous. Make them send you documentation that it's you they're looking for, you actually owe the money, and that it's not past the SOL. Good luck. - IWorkHere replies to KR| 6 repliesThis is a collection agency calling you. Being on the "do not call" list only removes you from the list of numbers that solicitors call - meaning people trying to sell you something, talk you in to something, or sign you up for something. This collection agency calls you because somewhere you have a bill, in whatever amount, that has not been paid. It may even be something that you've innocently overlooked - all collection agency calls arenot necessarily due to you being a bill skipper - you may have just forgotten to pay something. The only way to stop the calls is to take the call, find out what the bill is, and resolve the bill somehow. They will not stop calling you - and they will put this on your credit report. Eventually it will be sold to another collection agency, and THEY will begin calling you.
- IWorkHere replies to CheleIt doesn't waste your minutes if you don't answer. No phone service - cell or otherwise - charges you minutes for your phone just ringing. Don't answer it....then your minutes won't be wasted.
- IWorkHere replies to Lynn| 3 repliesBeing on the "do not call" list doesn't not mean that no one can call you. It only removes you from solicitors lists - and solicotors are people who are trying to sell you something or sign you up for something. You must have an outstanding bill somewhere, and that it why this number calls you - the "do not call" list can't help you here. Just answer the call, find out what bill it is that you own- might be something that goes so far back that you don't even remember it- and then figure out of you've paid it or not, then go from there.
- Rob replies to IWorkHereWow, how special. You must be really smart, to determine that all these calls must be for something you owe. I'll go you one better; it might be some bottom feeding collection agency who is using incorrect or out of date info, (geeeeee, I'm sure that never happens) or, even better, be some loser scammer. Which do you think, if you actually read all the posts here. Contrary to your suggestion, I'll give one. Don't answer the call, don't bother unless someone leaves you a message. See how much simpler this is?
- bev replies to IWorkHereYou are both wrong and insulding

- Kelvin rhodesKeeps calling I can't get off call list

- kksign56This can also be a phishing trip for collection agencies. I've answered at different times over the years and have had them ask for my husband by name due to a debt. Never my husband's true middle name, d.o.b., or correct city. They are hunting for someone and I'm tired of having them call me to see if I or my husband are who they're searching for. I never give them any info. I make them tell me whom they are searching for. Once they called for a school loan that my husband defaulted on. Told them that he didn't have any school loans and that he was almost 60. They then proceeded to ask me if he was born in 1979. I asked right back if they knew how to subtract as 2011 minus 1979 doesn't not equal 60. They are phishing. Don't answer. If it's even halfway legit, they'll leave a message.
