Received a letter claiming that I won 2 free round trip tickets within US, two night at marriott free!, "Note: You must respond no later than  ...." and to call (855)-723-2978 for details.   signed by Lisa Jackson, Guest Services Manager and heading reads Fly a US Airlines.  One of the sites said the No. is spoofed. Another site said the No. is available.  Bottom has code 2PC0530H.

"Call for Details, Taxes & registration fees and/or processing fees are the responsibility of the recipient."

So far I cannot verify if it is a gimmick or not.  I am 99% leaning toward a gimmick. I will not call.

I got the same letter number today 1-855-723-2978 Regards Lisa Jackson Guest Services Manager. I wouldn't waste my precious time calling a company with no return address, and information typed on plain black and white paper that come a dime a dozen. I hate scams!!!!

Absolute Gimmick!
    I received the same letter, with a different code. I thought I would call for my pure amusement. While I usually throw garbage like this right where it belongs, it came in an envelope that looked much like what the bank sends when they send you your pin number. The letter asks you to respond within a certain date & states that "previous attemps to reach you were unsuccessful". They pressure you into thinking this is your "final notification".
    They are "Travel Services of America" He said there was "no obligation" many times, which lead me to believe there would be some kind of sales pitch. He continued on saying that the company only wants "Good word of mouth advertising". "It is. 1st come 1st serve opportunity." (Another way to pressure you to jump on this "opportunity".) To qualify, you needed to be married, or co-habitating, have a combined income of $50,000 & be a US citizen. You would then be "qualified" for 2 round-trip airline tickets & with a 2 night stay in a Marriot Hotel. They retail the cost @ nearly $14,000. You would be responsible for airline taxes.
    He then went on to ask when I wanted to pick up my tickets? The nearest loction is in Perrysberg, Ohio at a Holiday Inn. (Why a Holiday Inn & not a Marriott Hotel?) They had weekend days & times to choose from. It seems these meetings would take about 2hrs. He tried to schedule me for one of these sessions, but I refused & took a number instead, saying that I needed to discuss this over with my "boyfriend".
    Nothing is free, especially if it sounds too good to be true. If you think something is off about a company, listen to your gut. Look into them. Do some research. And never give them any of your personal information.

Got the same letter, signed by Lisa Jackson. When someone sends you a letter but doesn't even have the company name on it anywhere, you know it is a scam.

I received the same letter today.  US Air, Southwest, and Jet Blue are listed at the top of the page to make the letter appear authentic.  It's obviously a new way to slicker people out of time and money.  Please ask the older and younger people that you know if they received a similar letter and warn them accordingly.  Once someone call that number, the organization records it and one can be guaranteed future spam calls for travel and most everything else.

Got this letter today. I opened it because I had bought some  UVA  Alumna publication and had been told that there would be an offer in the mail for two tickets for travel within the continental USA. So I called the # 855 723 2978 and was told I would have to drive 80 miles  south to Glen Allen, Va on a specific day, June 8 and sit through a 90 min presentation to qualify to get these tickets.Travel dates would be open for one year. There was no other location in the US that I could go to. I mentioned that since we have an office in Charleston SC perhaps I could go to a presentation there when I am next in Charleston. No was the answer.  So with less than four days notice I am expected to make a one hundred and sixty mile round trip plus spend 1 1/2 hrs listening to a presentation.  However the letter does state that I must respond by June 18th, not 8th.  I told her I have to work  and couldn't possibly make it with such short notice, and the rep asked if I work on weekends. Yes I do,  7 days a week. I run three companies and take care of a large estate by my self (bush hogging, mowing, weed eating etc)plus entertaining my friends. As the video says, "ain't nobody got no time for dis". Scam!!!!!!

Very good sleuth work and thanks so much for same!!  I received the exact same letter and was very suspicious.  But before throwing it away, I checked the number.  I guess its human nature to want to believe that you've actually won something!!  Have a good day and be smart every one.  Common sense is our best defense.

Yep, got the same letter today.  Knew immediately it was a scam.  

The key factors that gave it away:
1- The presentation of the letter (the only letters I get that look that are when I get my credit cards renewed and the pin # is sent in this format)
2- The name of the company on the letter was lame: 'Fly a US Airline' (Googled them- nothing found, searched other forms of social media- Facebook & Twitter with no results)
3- There's no website address on the letter (what company these days doesn't list their website address on any of their correspondence)
4- The blatant lie in the line "because of previous attempts to reach you have been unsuccessful..." (never got one phone call or previous letters)
5- There's no fine print on back of the letter (for something they're "giving away" you'd think there would be a whole page of fine print of exclusions and special circumstances)
6- The way the letter signs off "please call me" (no company signs off like that)

Did a bit more investigating by using a phone number reversal website.  The number is registered to 'Vacation Services of America':

According to the BBB, they also operate under an alternate name: Branson Marketing Group.  

When I Googled Vacation Services of America I was shocked to see the results; intranet page after intranet page of complaints written about peoples experiences with this company.  For those who called the number and took advantage of the "free plane tickets & hotel" ended up getting taken for several thousand dollars.  

The common theme between all the complaints seem to be once the consumer decided to call, they were then talked into attending a sales pitch at one of their locations.  From there they were given the 'ol used-car-salesmen-pitch to buy the vacation "membership" for $5k-$6K & rushed through the paperwork.  Once the paperwork was signed off, it was at that point they were sent off to enjoy their "free" getaway.  Once these consumers realized maybe they made too hasty of a decision, they contacted Vacation Services of America to cancel the contract at which time they were told they had to access their account online through the companies website with a special code.  

Here's where the company's slippery slope screws people: The contracts of these people that purchased them aren't listed on their website for at least a week.  However, in the contract they were rushed through, the fine print says they only have 3 days to cancel the contract.  If you recall from the letter, aside from the 2 round trip airline tickets, you're also awarded a 2 night stay in a Marriott Hotel.  Two nights in a hotel means you're away for 3 days.  So if you have only 3 days to cancel the membership, on the last day you're able to cancel the membership you're still enjoying your "free getaway".  And even if someone were sleuth enough to remember the 3 day cancellation rule it wouldn't matter, because the contracts aren't listed on the companies website for almost a week- only accessible online to cancel.  Sneaky, slimy & and dishonest don't begin to describe this scam.  Oh, and by the way, Vacation Services of America list their earnings as $20 million per year, and it's a no wonder how they got that.  

Many of you are probably wondering why I went through all this trouble to gather the information I found and record it here.  The answer is simple- while I didn't get duped into this scam there are many others out there who have and who will.  If we share all the information, then just maybe someone will be saved the heartache of such a slimy scam.
