A message was left on my answering machine from NCB Management Services Inc stating they were a debt collector. They wanted me to call back @ 855-739-5600. and gave a file number of XXXX. When I returned the call they wanted me to send them a check for over $25,000 for a debt I did/so NOT have. I think they are a SCAM company. They keep calling back even after I told them I am on the DNC list and that I am NOT the person they think I am, Harold Smith who lives in Los Angeles (I live in Seattle). They gave me a mailing address of: PO Box 1099, Lamghorne PA 19047. I just wish they would STOP calling.

    I just found this info:

NCB Management Services, a Philadelphia-based debt collection agency, was founded by two brothers in 1996. The brothers must have debt collection in their blood, as they both worked for the family business, another collection agency, before starting NCB Management Services. It appears that NCB specializes in a variety of types of debt, including credit cards and signature loans (HFC). NCB Management Services employs 400 people and has call centers in Philadelphia, PA, Jacksonville, FL, and Sioux Falls, SD. They have a current grade of C- by the Better Business Bureau, and have been sued in federal court for allegedly violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act 19 times in the past 12 months.

    Stop NCB Management Services Harassment

NBC Management Services, like many other collection agencies, buys old debt in addition to representing creditors. Old debt is based on old data. Chances are good that, when you receive a call from NCB Management, it's because your phone number matches that of the old debt record or you have the same name as or a similar name to the consumer who owes the debt. In other words, if you don't recognize the debt, it probably isn't yours. That, of course, won't necessarily stop the collector from trying to collect.

If that's the situation you find yourself in with NCB Management Services, ask for a debt validation letter (they're obligated to send you one within 5 days of the initial contact). When you receive it, you can dispute all or any part of it by sending a request of validation within 30 days of receiving the debt collection agency's letter. Collectors are not allowed to call you until they can put together the documents to prove the debt and send that proof to you. On old repurchased debt, that may be near impossible.

Further, the agency cannot add this debt to your credit report until they have proven it is actually yours. If you haven't had a response within 30 days of sending your letter, check your credit report and see if it appears. If it does, you can sue NCB Management Services for violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

This company called me at 3:45am in Europe - I am still fuming! Not only did they wake me up when I have no debts, they cost me an international call on my cell phone. Somebody needs to shut them down.

This company keeps calling my work line, doesn't leave a message 90% of the time, but is trying to collect a debt from some one else.  Very annoying.

I get daily notifications on my Outlook account at work that I've missed a call from 8557395300.  My phone has never rung.  I just get the notification that I've missed the call.

I used to wonder if I was missing something important.  After reading the above comments, I see that I haven't and I agree with those who want to take down NCB...

It's a debt collector.  I'm about to bankrupt my credit cards.  I started getting calls from these people when I blocked the annoying incessant calls from my creditors.
