I had a call from a lady named Karen Grey at this same number (1-855-749-9865) and they said that they were calling about a back order that needed to be picked up for the address on file. They didn't leave a company name or product name and I keep printed receipts of everything I purchase online and know for a fact I have nothing on back order. So this is a scam number.

I got a call from this number as well. I spoke to a lady name Ms.Russ from a company named coastal process.Claiming that I was going to get felony check charges court papers served to me for a cash advance of 300.00 in 2010. She stated my previous address and new the last four digits of my bank account that I had around 2010. She said that edgewater lending company was issuing the papers..and that I'd have my wages garnushed gradually in the amount of 2,635.80. She didn't give me a reference # and  I researched the info she gave but nothing was valid. I was terrified and nervous...I think this number is a scam. Please be careful..it ruined my day.

Much as these crooks preach otherwise, a defaulted payday loan is not ever considered "check fraud" by the courts. A PDL is always consumer credit. Consumer debt in America is not a criminal matter. Collectors do not need and cannot whistle up anyone with a badge and a gun to get themselves paid. Real law enforcers have trouble enough catching people who threaten lives and public safety, and they don't want another job chasing unproven penny-ante debts.

Never let bullies on the phone confuse extortion with debt collection. Honest debt collectors cannot deploy police to act as their agents, they do not send their claims straight to a judge, and they don't take your ransom money to broker quick deals with so-called "process servers". There are no secretive "arbitrators", "assessment specialists", "detectives", "investigators", "mediators", "mitigators", or "prelitigation specialists". Those who tell you such lies are sweaty double-talking criminals with a script full of coercive remarks. The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal.

Lawful debt collection in America is a process, not an ambush. Early in that process you must be given a specific notice about your alleged debt and how to dispute it. From there, you have a right to obtain proof of claim *on paper*. You have a right to control when, where, and how debt collectors contact you. Federal law does not expect you to take only the word of strangers on the phone that bad things are about to happen. Do not reward lawbreakers with your money. Challenge them always, sue them if you can.

Total scam.  Only public prosecutors can file felony charges.  Debt collectors have nothing to do with the criminal justice system.  If you were suspected of committing check fraud you'd have been interviewed on a face-to-face basis by law enforcement.  Being in ordinary civil debt is not a crime and you cannot be arrested for it.   Also the bank would hve sent you a letter concerning the matter.  You would NOT have heard about this from some scammery scummery debt collector who cold calls you and tells you to give them money.  Only a court can order a garnishment and that would involve a court proceeding where  all parties would be given a chance to make a case.  This is just a total scam.  Ignore the calls and block them.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.
