- Sean| 3 repliesmy boss received a call from this number. Mike Cooper asking for me by name, saying they will be serving me with a subpoena the next day. they left call back number and case file. Who calls and lets someone know they are going to be served...
- Call type: Debt collector
- tomThey left several messages from some bogus legal group.. it was a collection call - the guy was an [***]!!! told him not to call back and he did 2x more.. I just reported the number to the texas attorney general with a formal complaint.. Dont bother calling him back
- shar. replies to Sean| 2 repliessame thing happened at my work. did they really serve you at work or was it bogus?
- jackmeoff replies to shar.they buy junk debt by the boat load. They violate the Fair Credit Reporting Act by impersonating police officers and terrorizing phone calls to family and work.
This is the address of the company. The only solution is to send a "debt validation letter" to see if they really did buy a debt that you owe or they are a scam company. They try to get you to settle over the phone claiming they own debts easily viewable on your credit report.
Here is their info: Send Debt Validation Letters via registered mail and ask in writing to stop harrassment. There are plenty of examples on the googles of Debt Validation Letter

(909) 456-1244 f - Ren BReceived two calls from 855-781-6963. The first call was from a young woman with a sweet voice saying I am to be home on Feb. 4th to received a summons for Dana Fraser. I don't know any Dana Fraser, but the woman said that she was listed as my relative. I don't have a relative by that name and I don't know anyone with that name. She said someone at the New York Court would look into this and do some more research so they can serve Dana Fraser.
I then received another call the next day from a bogus officer Tony who left a voicemail message saying that I was to appear at Court in New York so they could give me a summons to give to this Dana Fraser.
These calls are a scam; they are trying to obtain personal info and also possibly trying to rob a person's house/apartment by luring one away during specific hours. For example, I was told to be at the Court between 10 a.m. and noon on Feb. 4th
Be careful and never give any information over the phone. - AnnoyedJust had the above number contact me trying to claim they are calling from the "County Clerks Office" in which after researching the number, obviously is a SCAM!
The lady (Monica) who is calling, with quite the attitude might I add, is not very friendly and super aggressive, great for a sales rep, which is what she is. Not a County representative. She wishes she was intelligent enough to pass as a County rep but all she is good for is a little attitude.
I asked her to never call my place of business again, today 02/07/2011 in which she agreed not to. Once you tell a creditor not to call a certain number (in my case, work) they are legally never allowed to call again.
Truly yours,

- CindyI got a call from 855-781-6963 leaving a message for a person I don't know saying they were from the clerks office and left a case number. I didn't know this person or number so I googled the number and found that other people have been getting these calls.

- JoseI got a call from 855-781-6963 leaving a message for me saying that they are from the city clerk's office and that I must contact them back within 24 hours or my address will be confirmed to be served. It was very confusing. I called after hours and there is a message from a Blackstone company saying to leave your name, phone number and case number. I won't be calling them again.

- JRThey are indeed a Ontario CA Firm. The call is to try and verify that you are reachable as they try an pin point your location, so they can move further trying to collect money.

- kidd22| 4 repliesI dont understand how is it a scam when we as debters owe the money? You dont pay your bill it gets sent to collecitons after that if watever credit card compnay it is wants to sue you they obtain a lawyer to do so.I can admit they are a bit pushy but with legitimate documentation they are for real!... Ask questions get all the information, if they own your debt then they have all the pper work all the way up until the first page you signed to recieve the credit card.

- Kat replies to kidd22| 3 repliesIt can definitely be a scam. Many third-party collectors use unscrupulous methods by which to attempt to collect a debt, often bordering on illegal. Many have also been trying to collect on debts that are beyond what the statute of limitations (which varies from state to state) allows. In today's economy, there are a lot of people who must make touch choices; pay the credit card bill, or feed the kids? Often the incidentals get pushed aside in favor of paying the necessities like food, electric, rent, etc. NOBODY has to deal with any third-party collector, EVER. You simply send them a Cease And Desist Letter, informing them that you choose to not deal with any third-party collectors; at that point, they will either send the bill on to an attorney, sell the account to a different third-party collector, or return the debt to the original creditor. I prefer to deal only with the original creditors, as I can often "deal down" the debt to something more manageable. Sadly, most people do not know even a fraction of their rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act - if they would just take a few minutes to look the FDCPA up and read it, they would have a LOT less stress over these third-party collectors that try to harass them.
- Joe| 1 replyYes these people keep calling my house from a private number and tell me that i am going to have to call or they are going to take legal action?? Well i told my lawyer and they are handling the situation right now.

- KIDD22 replies to Kat| 2 repliesthis is very true katt, however if the debt is purchased by a compnay then the original crediter does not own it and you cannot deal with them any further.I do understand where you are coming from but as i am reading other peoples posts I see people that really dont believe they owe this debt. I dont think a compnay will provide you will all documentaion if they were a scam. Right is right and wrong is wrong and that goes on both parts. If you owe the debt get answers find out what options you have. Honestly with this compnay I was able to settle out less than what i ac tually owed to the original crediter.I m not saying the way the go about things are great hecc no!! I amsimply saying they own the debt and will sue you if need be, I knew i owed a credit card bill and they are not my only credit card collection situation.
- Smiley replies to JoeDid anybody here actually get sued, as they threatened? Be careful of default judgements, though.
- btg777| 4 repliesThese people called my payroll office today, said someone was coming out to serve me papers at my place of work. They claimed to be from Steel Morgan & Associates and had a "county" case no. When I called the number they answered "Blackstone Group". Very interesting, because from what I've heard, the Blackstone Group is currently being investigated by the Attorney General for numerous violations of the Fair Debt CollectionPractices Act.

- Victim| 2 repliesDefinitely a scam! Regrettably, I believed harrassing calls and voicemails (threats) they left me saying they would subpoena for a lawsuit and send a Deputy "Donovan Artur" to retain me to appear in court unless I paid the debt owed. I paid $1000 to them yesterday 3-15-2011, thinking I was paying off my past debt when in actuality it was a SCAM! Please, don't let this happen to you. I let my Navy Federal bank know as soon as possible, cancelled my card, and received half of my money back so far! I am waiting for the other half to come in. I filed a complaint @ ftc.gov and also filing a fraud police report. They are pending a legal investigation on this company who claims to be STEELE MORGAN ASSOCIATES LLC. Please do NOT call these scammers back!
