A new nuisance caller.  No further information on the caller.

Getting this phone number daily on my machine. They leave random words on my machine and hang up. The business says it is from FSB. They call continuously, one right after the other. Calling the FCC tomorrow after two weeks of this.

So far today, I have received two calls from this number. Some of the message is hard to understand, but it is a woman's voice and the last name (she claims) is Archer. She identifies the company as SMS, Inc.  (although the SMS could be FMS or FMF....that, too, is hard to understand). She leaves a message saying it is a very personal and private message and is an attempt to collect a debt. The funny thing is that I can't quite understand the last name as my own, but it sounds really close to my former married name that I haven't used in 24 years. My first thought was that this is a scam, and when I got the 2nd call, it was exactly the same message (I was home when I received it but did not answer). I'm not sure, but I think I can block this number from my land line. I will definitely do it if the calls persist.

I think this is Financial Management Services, the collection branch of the United States Treasury. Bummer if it is.

They call every day but never leave a message.

They called again. This time, I returned the call and someone actually answered the phone. The customer service representative answered "FMS," which is a receivables management company (www.fms-collect.com). They are not a branch of the US Treasury Department. They were looking for someone with the same last name as mine. I told the customer service representative that the female they were looking for is unknown to me. I told him that my phone number is listed in the phone directory with only my first initial and last name and that I get these collection calls all the time. He promised to remove my phone number from their database. The FMS customer service rep was polite and professional.

I have been receiving harassing phone calls from this number at least 10 times a day. This is very disturbing and I am sick and elderly,  The persist even though I tell them not to call asking for people that I have no information about.  How can I report this problem to the attorney general's office or who do I report this to? I am sick and  elderly and these calls are having a negative effect on my health.

Calls everyday, starts early morning up until 2 minutes of nine at night. There is  someone my ny first and last name and they could be looking for her, don't know. I made my mind up if they call again they are going to get a piece of my mind. I too like the last comment I read sick and getting old. So tiresome and troubling to keep getting these calls. Does anyone read our posts on these thugs calling????

I have received calls from this number on numerous occasion. It is FMS when I call back. They are looking for an ex and I have no knowledge of his whereabouts. I have asked them to remove my number, which they state they will do, only to receive more calls!!! I also received a call from them on my cell phone as well.... this is really annoying.

I just got a call from this number again........ I get them every day, but strangely enough the girl who answered my call
declared they did not have that phone number on any of their records........ then she wanted my name and lots of other information which I considered "none of her business' if my phone number wasn't on her records!!!   I have a hard time believing she didn't see the number, otherwise how is anyone calling me???   I told her the next time I get one of these
calls from that number I would report it to the authorities and they could investigate.!!!

We get 2 -3 calls a day from these idiots.  They hang up on our recorder always!  When I return their call on this number it is answered by recorded msg saying its  SMS  / FMS  and a rep will be right with me.  He was so cocky in his "we have to let you know we are recording" and I was MORE cocky with my reply I TOO am recording.  Then I went back to speaking in my nonChristian days and let him know GLORIA IS NOT HERE - He had the cods to ask if I had a number for her!  What a prick.  I used so many words I hadn't used in years - but I think he got the message.  He was at least speaking American English.  What can be done?????

They call everyday n the hang up

They call every day asking for someone who does not work/live here and no one has heard of this person. They need to be taken out.

They've been calling every day for over a month now. When I answer, they hang up. When I let it go to the machine, they hang up. I have not called back, because if it was important, they would stay on the line and talk! Contacting my provider to see if I can block this number from calling again.

I get 3 or 4 calls daily, when I answer I don't get anything and when I don't answer there is never a messege.

When I return the call she gives me her name but never verifies where she is calling from. They never leave a voicemail, this is so irritating. I am sick of these telemarketers.

They want my SSN. Bill from Tulsa olkhoma he claims. I told them off and said it's [***] because. no legitimate company  would ever call and ask for my SSN.

a man called, supposed debt collector for Citicorp credit card debt. I Don't even have that card. Then pushed for info ". To verify that it wasn't me, ssnumber etc"  why can't these creeps be stopped?

In any event,

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.
