- Katie| 1 replyCalled to discuss my late husband's estate. They wouldn't tell me what it was about until I confirmed my name and his date of birth. But going to happen. He had no estate to discuss, anyways.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Mike-in-MD replies to KatieUnless you were a cosigner or joint account owner, you are not responsible for any unpaid debts of your deceased husband. Depending on the law in your state, his estate may still have to go through probate even f he did not have a will or executor named. If they continue to call, refer them to the Clerk of Courts for Probate in your county and tell them to cease calling you.
- RatherNotSaySecond call. Said they're calling looking for the financial planner of the late "Maureen Atkins", a woman I do not know. Even left a reference number for me to provide if I call back, and asked me to call the 855 number. This number didn't call me, either, they called from a (646) number. Did not seem like an automated message.

- Tracy T.I was called from 1 (646) 751-0600, New York, NY. A guy called asking if I was legally handling my recently deceased cousin's estate. I said yes. He said he was calling for a vendor who did business with my cousin and asked me to provide ONLY my cousin's year of birth as confirmation to talk to me. I was about to provide it but could not find it. I told him I could call him back and ask who he was again. He clarified he was an estate information services company calling for a vendor regarding "probate accounts." He provided the following call back information: his name, VICTOR CANGE; call back no. 855-807-3212 ext.152
Don't know if I'll call back.- Caller: Would not disclose
- XK| 1 replySimilar story as those above, got a call from Nicole, asking to speak to someone concerning my mother's estate. I had to ask what entity was calling, was told it was "Estate Information Services" (as if that's a big help) and where they were located, she said Ohio. Callback could be made to 855-807-3212 x254. Yeah, I'm gonna rush to do that. Instead complaint will be filed with state attorney general.

- KimDO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION PERIOD! Not your name not anyone’s name! Just tell them to stop calling. If it legit you’d get a letter from a legit business you could verify. But remember that scammers hope you don’t know the law on debts of deceased’s people and honestly this call to you is just a harassment call and if they can get you to give them any valuable information it’s a BIG BONUS TO THEM. Always check and cross check everything. Then still be careful. Technology is the devils tool so to speak. Good luck !

- An Executor| 2 replieseven if these guys are legit... which I think the claim that involves my family matter to be true... an estate takes for freaking ever to be settled. I have their letters sent multiples times in a single week and phone calls every other day is not going to settle the estate any faster it's only going to annoy me and at this point say F you and your measly little $1643. They've already lied about something stupid so that leads me to believe they are the most ethical group to deal with; when someone passed and you're working on settling the estate you are also grieving a loss and dealing with the clean up at the same time show some freaking compassion and patience. You'll get paid if it's legit and, now, maybe if I feel like it. Maybe I'll just bill for every phone call and piece of mail that I have received from them over this petty sum when I only needed 1 letter to reply to once the estate was ready to be settled and payments made to all claims! This particular one involved American Express. I cannot believe AMEX did not give me the opportunity to handle the matter before turning it over to these [***]. Bank of America is dealing with me directly and, wow, not harassing me!

- MJG replies to An Executor| 1 replyHave you contacted AMEX to see if they have passed off the claim?
- JportSo I was given this number from an Amex person and was told to call them about my late dads account which my name was on, that was handed over to them. It was being paid and not over due. So this should be interesting.
- PaulScam. if they were legit, they would know to file a claim against the Estate in the required time period. They hope you are ignorant to that and will send them money. They are also spoofing the numbers they call from to make it seem local to you.

- kj872Received a call from an 859 area code and let it go to voicemail. Left a message saying they're attempting to locate the person able to discuss the business affairs of my late father (who has been gone now for a few years). Requested a call back to an 855 number. I would like to know why they call and it pops up one area code but their call back is a totally different number.
