- MJI received a confusing message from a woman named Samantha stating that she is coming to my house on Monday for some unspecified reason and that if I do not show up, she will then go to my supervisor at work and then to the homes of my family members to ascertain my whereabouts. She also vaguely referred to documents for me to sign and the need for me to avoid "missed appearances" or a "failure to appear." My guess is that this must be a collection call and she is making a garbled threat to sue me, but I have no idea what it is about, and the person left no company name or account information.
I returned the call to "Samantha" but just got a recording stating that the company (unidentified again) is sorry to have missed my call but is not available.
Sounds like either a scam or a debt collector?- Caller: unknown (Samantha)

- Andy HangleyThese people left a very unprofessional phone message. Asked for my wife by name and told her to stop hiding from them and call them by 3pm or else! I called them back and found out that they were actually looking for my ex-daughter in law. Why they asked for and called my wife is beyond me.
They are a bill collector pure and simple..

- TJDEBT COLLECTOR! They leave these long messages stating that if I don't call them back, they're going to go to my job and talk to my supervisor (I'm currently unemployed) and then they threaten to speak to my family members to try to "track me down". They say they will only make a second attempt, but then a month later they call again and start the whole line of threats all over again.

- LD| 2 repliesGot a call from 254-449-9541, a number from Killeen, TX telling me to call 855-817-4841. He said his name was Bobby Miller and he was leaving now to go to my work and bring me legal papers. He said if I was not at work he would ask for my supervisor or someone in HR to find out when I would be at work. He said he would then come to my home and told me to "answer the door" or he would take other action. Not sure what this is about. Should I call the Killeen number back and tell them not to call again that I consider it harrasement? I can't find anything on the internet with a company whose phone number matches the 855-817-4841
- .. replies to LDThey're money Hijackers. They try to scare folks into giving them money over the phone "or else" and lie about owing to credit cards, and make up many false amounts of data. They think they can scare folks into giving them money without seeing anything in writing.... All while lying in saying that that have a document. The same thing happened 2 months ago, then again just now today. They all have a lie and the 855 number was the same African American guy answering the phone. They're data minors and they want to Hijack money over the phone. That Texas number is phones too, same names used and numbers, etc..
It's best to refer any issues to your local FBI office if they call again. - SSI got the same call and they told me the same thing I have to be here or they will call my supervisor or go to my family homes to discuss the matter. His name was Adam Williams he used. Then he called again the next morning. To confirm that I'll be home at 2 or legal action will be taken and I ned 2 forms of ID To sign the documents and no information is given to me I don't owe anything in collections over the top, creditors hate me cuz I borrow and pay off right away. I looked into the state court system and no such filing for actions been taken against me.

- JessicaI just received a call from the number 855-817-4841 telling me to call a Adam Williams and that if I don't he was going to my supervsior and then to my home.
- Richthey called me stating I had a court appearance at 3:00 and if I didn't show it would be bad. I called them back and said I want proof that I owe this money and the guy was like, "We don't need to show you prove" you owe this money and we need to collect it. Then he said I am here to help people pay this debt down, I said I didn't know about it and he stated it was on my credit report (it is not).
- otowngrl77I received a call from them the day after Christmas. They left the same message everyone else received, so I looked the number up on the BBB. According to the BBB, there is no such business associated with that number (855-817-4841). I reported the call to the FTC giving them both the 855 number and the number the woman had called from--a Texas number even though she claimed to be a "local courier" and I live in Florida. Definitely a scam.

- LH| 4 repliesI have been receiving calls from 254-449-8541, every other day since December 1, 2014. The caller identified himself as Adam Williams and then as David Lyons. They stated they needed to serve court documents and I need to be present. Voice on voice mail was very stern and threatening. They stated they would start at my employment (I am retired) if I was not there then they would speak to my supervisor or go to my family homes to discuss the matter. Then he called again the next morning to confirm that I had better be home at 2 or legal action will be taken. I was waiting along with my 45, and guess what. NO ONE SHOWED UP! He stated I would need two forms of ID's to sign the documents. No no information is given to me. I don't owe anything in collections. I looked into the state court system and no such filing for actions been taken against me. Today David Lyons stated if I do not return his phone call by 2:00 PM I would have a bench warrant issued for my arrest. Internet blogs state these characters are junk debt collectors. The threats and harassment need to stop immediately so I filed a complaint with the FBI. https://tips.fbi.gov/. I called the reference number on the voice mail 855-817-4841, but nobody answers the phone, just to leave you name and phone number, which I did not.

- Alfalfa replies to LHTell "Adam"/"David" the next time he calls you are aware he is running an extortion scam and have reported them to the authorities. While you are at it, inform him the same fate awaits him that was afforded to those working for WSA, who are facing up to 20 years in prison for wire fraud.
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/askcfpb/1699/h ... legitimate.html - Mad as hell replies to LDMy 87 and 88 year old grandparents got a call from someone named Bobby Miller stating they needed to drop off a mattress to me at my home. Asked my grandparents where I lived and could my grandfather meet him there to let him into my house. I called the number back because I was so angry that someone would "scam" my elderly grandparents. When I called I was told that no Bobby Miller worked there. They were rude, inappropriate and nasty. Told them I needed to pay this "debt" because they were taking me to court and garnishing my wages and what part of that didn't I understand? I tried to look them and their number up on the internet and there is no such number.
- Jepp replies to LH| 2 repliesI just got called by Adam Williams this morning. I am unemployed as well. This really pisses me off! I have no debt! If they call my mother, I will report them!
- Alfalfa replies to Jepp| 1 replyIf they call again, let them know they are being recorded (legal in most states) and having them prosecuted for attempted wire fraud. See how fast they hang up.
- someguyOn Friday 1/6/15 A guy named "Andy Stanford" tried calling me saying that I had a case docket and that someone was going to be at my house tomorrow by 3pm to serve me. One thing they did not know was I am a county employee through the county the docket is supposedly out of. I then asked the person were he was from and he said the company he works for was based out of Texas and would not give me a name of the company, just said they are subbed out through the county that the docket is out of. I said, "really.... Let me tell you something, I work for that county and infect I deal with dockets on a daily bases.. and I know that if the county I work for really had a docket for me, I would have been notified via my boss or the sheriffs department whom I work for". They guy said, "I don't know what to tell you, all I know is that I need your address so I can mail them to you". I said to the guy, thought someone was going to be here and if you have my number I am sure you have m address. then hung up. Today 1/21/15 my grandparents called me all in a panic and told me the same guy "Andy Stanford" needed to find me and that they were the closes relative they had on record... My grandfather is a Sr. my dad is a Jr... and my parents are less then 30 miles down the road and I have never used my grandparents for any contact info for this exact reason... Calling the BBB first thing in the morning... this is BS!!

- Yolanda| 1 replyA lady named Samantha left me a voicemail for my mother-in-law. Advising she was coming by the house and if my in-law didn't show up, she would have to take some kind of action and advised me to call 855-817-4841. She didn't specify what documents she will be forced to submit or company she was calling from.
- MJG replies to YolandaDon't bother calling her. It is a scam (and illegal to give information to a third party). Please read Alfalfa's long post several comments above yours.
BTW - Real process servers do NOT call first.
