Called my work,  stated they were a mitigation company and the lawyers were in a meeting and could not speak to me.
They are going to revoke my state issued driving license due to non payment on an old account.

I refused to give a statement,  she stated the sheriffs office would come to my place of employment to serve me with papers.

A phone call, email or text message from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:

* Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.   ["Written" means snailmailed - US Mail ... not emailed or texted]

Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.

Recieved a call from  a person named Karen Peoples  was trying to contact  my son . Claimed  there was a court  case being issued  int he county  that we lived   against him . She would not state who she worked for  or anything  and then preceded to call my cell phone many times   .Have never recieved anything about anything  alleged here  in the mail  so  do not believe what she is  saying  Must be a scam

Cheryl if she was trying to contact your son you should of have just passed the message along as it was for him an not you...... ims

Karen peoples called my daughter and told her to tell me to call her that i needed to be made aware of a court case and court date. She went on to say that my daughter was  a emergency contact for me she gave her no other info expect enough info to scare her .
Also something ref my driver license.

Karen People just left me a message from the number (855) 847-7971 stating I have a court case against me and my  Driver license will be revoked if I don't take action today! If I owed the city anything wouldn't the city court be contacting me!? How would I had been able to renew my license if I had outstanding tickets!?

a Karen Peoples called me today from a local number (newer twist), though said to call back at 855-615-8518, and said that she was with claims and mediation and calling to do an income and wage verification process as she was uncomfortable to fax it to my employer (I am self-employed, there is no employer) and that if mediation was not met then a legal complaint was prepared to file in a county near where I live.  It was pretty obvious to me this was a scam, but I did Google her name anyway and found this site, so added my experience here as well.  These people are evil.  Probably do manage to scare some folks into giving out information they shouldn't.

This Karen Peoples person also called my adult son right after me, leaving a message saying he was down as an emergency contact and that he needed to tell me to call them as there are charges against me.  Scared him a little.  Somehow these dirt bags are able to connect you to a family member and use that for further harassment.....it's a little unnerving to me as well!  I honestly can't figure out how they had my son's information connected with mine.  Another thing......the number each of us were called from showed up as different numbers from different parts of the state, 100's of miles apart.
