These people call you, from several different numbers. I have let them call me, and sometimes a number shows up and sometimes "unknown" shows up. Today Eric Sanders called me up, three times, and I finally got fed up. I bought a digital voice recorder, and when he answered, I first advised him that the phone call was being recorded and if he wish to proceed with communicating with me, and he stated he had no problem with the phone call being recorded. I became upset with him telling him I was sick and tired of being harrassed, and he in return became hostile and yelling at me, which is an illegal practice. Debt collectors CANNOT become hostile or irate with the customers. When I pointed this out to him, he responded, "Well you're yelling at me." And I said, "You're damn right I am! But I am the customer and you are the representative of a business and you cannot argue or intimidate your customers." He asked me for my name, and I told him, "I will disclose my name and address to you once you provide me with your physical address, the company you are representing, the amount you are claiming I owe, and you agreee to mail me a copy of all documents before this matter goes any further." He said, "I don't have to give you any such information." "Give me your name and file number and we can discuss payment plans." I again told him I would give him all information once he gave me the information I requested, and he declined to do so, told me to pay my "[***] bills" and people like him would not be calling me, and he hung up. I called him right back and all I got was the anwering machine. I waited 30 minutes called him back and he said, "Look, I don't want any problems, give me your name and account number  and I will take it off our call log." And I told him, "You want my name and account number and I want your address, the name of your company, the company you represent to collect a debt, and I want all documents mailed to me." He said, "I am trying to work for a business, just give me your name and account number and I will take you off our call list.' I said, "No, I want what I requested," and he hung up on me.
Legally, they cannot deny disclosing who they are collecting the debt for and the amount due and they must mail you all documents they have, and once you receive the documents, then they can say they are owed the debt. The cannot represent themselves as an agent of the law, if the do, you request their name and badge number, and I can guarantee, by now they are pissed, and this is where the tape recording of the conversation comes into play because thye cannot argue, use foul language, or belittle the customer, and they always do.
They can be sued for up $1000.00 for harrassment. DO NOT SPEAK TO THESE PEOPLE UNTIL YOU ARE ABLE TO RECORD THE CONVERASATION AND ADVISE THEM THAT THE CONVERSATION IS BEING RECORDED AND IF THEY WOULD LIKE TO PROCEED.
Do not let these guys intimidate you. They do change numbers regularly and I know how to track them.

how many kids go home and tell mom and dad they are "the best" at their job?  time to wake up.  see previous post.  If you want to stop collection agencys, simply pay your bills, and they will be out of business.

I have gotten several of the same type calls on my cell phone.  I have only had this number a few months but apparently the number I inherited from AT&T someone didn't pay their bills.  They call all hours, threatening, harassing, etc...  I finally googled the phone number and all these posts came up.  The name I keep getting messages from a "PRIVATE NUMBER" is Michael Sullivan.  I have tried to tell him I am not the person they are asking for - I even told him he could verify it from my mobile company the name associated with my cell.  He just got rude and agitated at this point and told me I was a worthless b***h who didn't pay my bills.  I saved the messages he left after - 3 of them so far.  He rattled off some address and work place not even in my city that he would be paying me a visit at...  anyway - these people are crazy!  Is there any way to stop them from harassing me?

I want to respond to those who are saying that if people pay their bills these calls would stop.  Well, if the company didn't put me in a bind illegally, they wouldn't have to worry about it.  Plus, you do not know anyone's situation that has made them not be able to pay their bills.  Emergency situations do happen (like being laid off unexpectedly).  I am willing to work with anyone to pay debts as long as they are trying to collect the debt legally.  But when an unkown # is calling me at work with bogus threats from a fake courier service, then I have a problem.  You will not get a dime from me and I won't answer the phone.  Places like this give reputable debt collectors a bad name!!

I have received this call twice now. They claim they are sending process servers to my work and home but they will not if I agree to pay them money. THEY ARE VERY RUDE and hang up on you. I know people should pay their bills but really...there are laws in affect and if you request verification then there are supposed to give it to you. Harrassment at work can get a person in trouble...then where would you be. I will be contacting an attorney and see what my options are.

I received the exact same calls, but from "Investigator, Davi Stubblefield." I'm not about to answer these calls, this is probably the 3-4 harassing call I've received with a voice mail (numerous hang ups without a voice mail msg left).
Said he was calling from Pre-Legal Department of Global Associates Firm (nice, generic 'company' name) in regards to a civil complaint for breech of contract and check fraud. Well, I have no idea what they're talking about, I don't write checks and my debit card doesn't allow for bounced checks/overdrawn funds. Also, I was just had my bankruptcy finalized and discharged. I owe no one anything and I have to believe if there was ANYTHING that I owed ANYONE when I had 3 different credit checks run that it would have come up as an outstanding loan,etc...Which, it clearly did not.
I ignore them, keep all the voice mails for future reference and legal reasons. I have also informed the Florida Attorney General's office of these harassing phone calls and voice mails.
This is crap and will not stand for it, nor should anyone else!!

I received a call from this phone number.  They have left 6 messages over the last 2 weeks.  I never answer my phone, cause I don't know the phone number.  The gentleman today didn't leave a name but said that he was from Unit Legal Services and he was retained by JD Marketing Group in regards to an invalid check from my bank (XXX).  He says unless I have a stop order request there is nothing I can do.  He gave me his phone number 855-862-9161 and says GOOD LUCK and hangs up.

I'm a little confused.  First off, I pay my bills...so the guy that is jumping down peoples necks...please leave the site.
Second, I have not banked with this bank since 2008.
Third, I don't think I have written a check since paying bills online came into affect. (haha)
I have called my old bank, just to make sure that everything was okay and they stated that there has been a scam going around and these people will do anything for you to send them money.  The previous poster who said that they have to give you all the information is correct.  DO NOT PAY anything to ANYONE.  A legitimate company will not yell at you, will not hang up on you, will not keep information from you.

This number called my 63 y/o Mother claiming a he was Kevin Clark and a Thomas Mann had committed a crime and that my Mom had to sign some paperwork. He also stated it was a county sheriff matter. She does not know any Thomas Mann, has a perfect credit rating and has never been late on a bill once in her life. ITS A SCAM PEOPLE! Nothing to do with bill collections as evidence of the several different company names they use and the different tactics to get information. Use your heads!! FYI if the [***] claiming to be Kevin Clark reads this I will gladly meet you anyplace/anytime to discuss how angry I am your trying to scam my Mother.
