Claimed to be from stats canada trying to get info on my survey.  Wanted to have more info.... Id theft attempt perhaps?   Probably

Just received a call from 855-869-8674 said they were Statistics Canada. Phone #WS2255 on our caller ID was 204-983-8405.

Yes 2 calls today Sunday, maybe it really is Stats Can as the woman said but seemed very casual. I did not answer either but let my machine pick up. I then called the actual 1-855 # as shown on my Census Form but they were too busy to speak. So I have done nothing. If it's really govt business they can mail me.

Got a call yesterday, the woman gave me the num 855 869 8674 to call her back with a reference number. Just called Stats Can at this PN : 1-800 263 1136. The guy said it really was a call from them. So i called back the lady, and after picking up my address and name she said it was not the good one they called.. quite suspect

Received a call from a 709 number that showed it was nippinsing and I hung up thinking it was quite strange... Then received a call from an unknown number both have me the 855 number to call back... With an ID number. I said I would rather receive information via mail.. When I google the number only Asian letters show up. Weird!

I got a call from 705-753-4888 and left a voice message to call back 1-855-869-8647 with a reference 2115XXXX.  It was odd because stats can would never call like this

I got a call from a man saying he was from Stats Can and that he had questions about my census.  He did not give me any information that showed he actually had the census information.  By the time he asked his first question, by 'Bat Senses' were tingling and I asked if I could call him back.  He gave me 1-855-869-8674 and a reference number.  I called back but the response seemed to be an old tape answering machine and then the line rang like an overseas call, not the standard Canadian ring.  I hung up.

Said they were statistics Canada, returned their call but hung up before person could answer

Just got the same call but from a gentleman named Robert (possibly Morales?) Case number also. I only filled in my census form less than 48 hours ago.  I doubt they would have time to process that already. Th
at's why they only do it every 5-10 years! My call display said 800 565 1685

this return number just called from 204 983 8543.  I let it go to voice message.  Male voice (no name) stating it was Stats Can and please call 855 869 8674.  Also left a file # 212XXX X

Doesn't feel right somehow.  I too just filled out my census a couple of days ago.  Way too soon for them.

Got a call today from a (705) number. Lady left a message to call her at (855) 869-8674 and a case number. Checked the (705) number on GEDS the govt directory. It's legit - Stats Canada.

So... I called the helpline on my census form and the call was confirmed as being from Statistics Canada!

This number called me, and left a message saying they were Stats Canada. I called the Stats Canada number on their website, and the call is legit. They're responsible for following up about potential census problems.

I got same call from a Lady who said from Census Canada, and give me this 855- toll phone # and the case#. I did verify with the toll phone# listed on Census Canada paper. They confirmed the Case# and call from their dept. But give me another toll # to call back. So, IT IS FROM Census Canada. Don't worry ! But verification is always necessary ! :)

I received a call today (Victoria Day) from Ted at Statistics Canada.  I didn't answer the call but he left his phone number 855-869-8674 (the caller id showed 800-565-1685), and an 8 digit case id number.  He went on to let me know Stats Canada's hours which included Sat and Sun.  However, if you check the Stats Canada website under Contact Us, it states, "Our agents are available Monday to Friday (except holidays) from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm."  http://www.statcan.gc.ca/eng/reference/refcentre/index
I'm beyond aggravated with these scams!!!

I received a call requesting a call back to 1-855-869-8674, claiming to be statscan and also left a reference number. I called the official statscan number as posted on their website and the person I spoke to checked that number and said it was *NOT* an official statistics Canada number.

I Contacted Stats Canada today by email as I got the same call and they confirmed the phone number 1-855-896-8674 was their's. Not a scam.

I emailed stats Canada and asked if this phone number was their's. 855-869-8674 as they call me on a Sunday. They confirmed by email it was legit. The had a few question to clarify on a visitor staying with us. This is the reply I got. "Hello,

Thank you for contacting Statistics Canada.

Toll-free number 855-869-8674 is one of the many numbers used by Statistics Canada. Feel free to reach them at your earliest convenience.

I worked at Stats Can before I can can tell you their phone centers are open 7 days a week.

received message on my home phone asking to contact Statistics Canada 855-869-8674 got some guy who couldn't get my last name right then said that he would transfer my call....abruptly disconnected me. I did not disclose any other information but clearly this is a scam!!!
