Thanks as I just got this number a month ago.

They keep calling my mother illegally ant I've asked them to stop. [***]

Caller asked to be put through to HR Dept.  When I asked the purpose of the call, he said for employment verification.  This company uses the work number with an employer code.  He didn't want it, he just wanted to know if the person was an active employee.  When I repeated the work number info, he hung up.   While on the phone with him I googled the number; debt collector.

Getting calls from this number, 855-869-9270.  This is a busy corporation.  Wanting to know if an employee works here.  Operator does not give out such information, he hung up.

I've been getting these harrassement calls for a yr now and they also keep harrassing my ill mother. I believe they've called and left a message with another relative. I believe this is pioneer credit as I have looked this number up before.

My partner and I keep getting phone calls staying it's for an employment reference for his sister. It's debt collection. And we still do not know how they got our private numbers. They have been blocked.

If you could get the proper name of the company calling you, you could do the following:
You need to send them a certified, return receipt "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

"Mrs. Smith" left a voice mail saying she was a debt collector and asking that I call her back. I have no debts. Scam call. Will block.

Pioneer Debt Collector. They told me who they were trying to contact. I recognized the name as someone who lives on the next block from me. Apparently they had been given the wrong address to work from.  They removed me from their call list.

Interestingly they called from 607-304-4459, but gave 855-869-9720 as the call back number.

They left a voicemail that said, "Hello there, this message is Tiffany Pfeiffer. Please give me a call back at 855-869-9720. This call is regarding [insert name of person I know] and the reference number is [whatever the reference number was] talk to you later, bye!"

I didn't call back, but the person they were asking about has a lot of debt and had no other idea why they were calling so I feel confident it was a debt collector like others reported.
