- Steph| 2 repliesThey are calling my work saying they have a summons for me they need to bring to my job. ????
- CWG40 replies to StephTotal debt scamming operation. No legitimate process server calls you up in advance and tells you he or she is coming by. They just show up. This is nothing more than an attempt to scare you into paying them something.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/Complaint/#debt-collection
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. - pevangelJust got a message on my voice mail, same exact message as CWG40 said, Thank you CWG40 for this info, I figured a scam he said his name is Jonothan Mitchell and he also states have 2 forms of ID, like I would really show him anything. and the company is Priority Legal Caring Services, lol. The name does not even sound legit. I am not worried now that I see CWG40 reply.

Said that a summons was to be delivered to our home within the next 24 - 48 hours and "please make yourself available." Yeah, sure. Repeat - WE DON'T OWE ANYONE ANYTHING. - AmaryllisGot the same message on my cell phone from "Jonathan Mitchell". Don't have any debts, don't even have a mortgage or car loan. Just added this number to my call blocker app.
Years ago some deadbeat gave out my cell phone number as his contact information. Used to call these places back and tell them they had the wrong number to no avail. I've had the same phone number since 1999 and don't want to change it, but maybe I'll have to. This is so annoying.- Caller: Priority Legal Caring Services

- tamedjust got the same call today, Jonathon Mitchell, I returned the call, said I had a HSBC credit card that he is collecting on and will be here within 24-48 hours. Need two forms of ID, when I asked for US Postal mailing of his company, he said NO, Jonathon will be there tomorrow, and I asked again and he said NO we are serving you with it, Good Luck and hung up. When I called back after talking to my local law enforcement and reading these comments, they instantly refused my call. It actually hung up after only one ring.
- AnnoyedPre recorded robocall. recorded speaker stated they were Jonathon Mitchell, but did not say who summons was for.
Obviously a scam - AshleyI received the same call, he even had the last four digits of my social security number. He said that I still had an outstanding balance on a credit card. He said that it was in my maiden name. That was when I new it had to be a scam. I have been married for 17 years. He said it was a credit card that I had just 6 years ago. FREAKS****they need to get a REAL job.

- WolfmanJackThis is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number. Now why would a “process server” want to do you, a stranger, a favor, and at the same time not get paid to deliver the papers?
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Someone calling himself Jonathan Mitchell left a message telling her that someone is coming to her home or place of employment within 48 hours with a summons for her to sign. He said if at her place of employment, then her supervisor must be present as a witness. These guys belong in Gitmo.

- RebeccaJohnathan Mitchell called and left a voice message, just like described above.
We just cleared ALL of our old debts, everyone of them, including the debt they were calling about.
We called back to verify what was going on.
We knew right away it was some kind of scam.
A man named Daniels was very threatening, and said all sorts of weird things.
He had NO documentation and said it was PAST the point of proving the debt, that we needed to pay up to avoid all sorts of trouble.
We are very familiar with the debt in question. First, we have NEVER had an account with Chase Bank during the time in question. Secondly we went through everything on our credit report to clear it up.
Now this????????
These are very bad guys.- Caller: Priority Legal Caring Services

- JoeI received two voicemails from this number claiming a summons would be server upon myself. I figure it's a scam. However on this one sometimes a guy answers claiming it's a law firm. He left me a voicemail today after I kept calling him that he was going to call my local police and charge me with phone harassment. Why is this number allowed to continue? I reported it to the FBI and FTC two weeks ago? thank you
