I received a message on my work phone that said this is a debt collection. I cannot receive calls at work. I don't know what this is about. please call my home number at [removed] and speak with my wife pleaseand explain whats going on.- Caller: couldn't understand the name
- Call type: Debt collector
- not Michael replies to J.Its simple. The call was a scam. They were trying to get you to pay a debt you don't owe. Similar scams are all over this website.
Posting your phone number was not wise. Thieves and scammers read here. I have asked Board Administration to remove it for you, but it may not happen immediately. You can expect more scam and telemarketing calls. - tim&barbthey hack me&wife call all the time, don't own them.

- I'm Not CarlI keep getting calls from 855 888 9974. I answer and a computer voice will ask me to please hold and them music will play. They will not stop calling. The fist time I did hold, and a man's voice came on laughing and having a conversation with another person as I repeated hello and was ignored by him. I finally hung up, and now I hang up each time the computer ask me to please hold. How rude to call someone and ask for them to hold. You called me. I assume the calls are for some man name Carl who had my number before me. Since I received this number I have had numerous collection agencies, doctors offices billing, University of FL financial aid, and Medicare burn up my phone lines trying to get a hold of Carl.

- Bulldog| 1 replyReceived voicemail stating they were the IRS and we have issue with our taxes and need to contact them at 1-888-855-7251 to deal with the issue. The call came from 1-347-559-0378 at 7:45 in the morning!!!! Dead giveaway that this is a scam. I will call (from my work phone) to try and get more information to forward to the FBI. Local police will not investigate (and sort of can't) unless people fall for it and provide these scammers with their personal information and/or money. I know to report internet/email scams to go to the FBI's ic3.gov website, I'll check it out to see about phone scams. You know. I've been getting bombarded with all these unscrupulous callers, scam artists, telemarketers. These calls did not start until AFTER I registered on the DO NOT CALL registry! Go figure!
- Caller: IRS
- antboy replies to BulldogI also suspect this is an IRS phone scam. I cannot find this number on IRS website and when I call back, I immediately get access to someone but they quickly hang up. Typically calling IRS is difficult as I get that frustrating automated system and it is hard to talk to someone but in this case, I quickly get to someone.
- antboyHere is the correct URL to contact IRS and how to notify about the phone scam...so 1-888-855-7251 sounds like a phone scam

If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you’ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their “FTC Complaint Assistant” at FTC.gov. Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.- Caller: possible IRS phone scam
