- ragram| 4 repliesOn my laptop (that my adult daughter uses in my home) we received a message saying not to buy anything that there was a virus on the computer and to call this number at once. Doesn't sound right to me. Anyone else get this message?
- Mike-in-MD replies to ragram| 2 repliesYour web browser has been infected with a malicious popup most likely acquired by visiting an infected website. Fake Flasher Player updates are the most common source. Close you browser (use task manage if necessary), update your security software and run a scan. Reboot and run the scan again. Then try your web browser. If these steps do not work, contact your security software vendor for help or a local PC Tech Support shop you trust.
- regram replies to Mike-in-MDThanks, your suggestion is a big help. Two days later it came up again---even after a scan to clear any virus.
- racinggreats replies to ragramyes I have just now. I don't trust it. I am trying to look it up and see whats going on
- racinggreats replies to Mike-in-MDThanks for the info on this issue
- A Wise Internet UserDo not call this number, they will try to scam you, if a pop up comes up that tells you to call that number, do not call it! instead press and hold Ctrl, Alt, and Delete, once in your task manager, end any tasks related to your web browser. if you accidently end explorer.exe, re-open your task manager and run explorer.exe. But do not pay money or allow remote access to the people behind this number! it is a SCAM

They try to convince you that you have viruses or network issues and they need to fix it urgently (for $300), they want personal info, computer info and credit card info. They will get aggressive when you decline or if you hang up on them; they will call over and over again using scare tactics about your computer security. JUST SAY NO and report them right away.
