Gentleman identifying himself as Amor Reyes called saying they were coming in two hours to shut my power off because I was behind in my payments various months.
Since I obviously am not, I told him I would call TECO and get to the bottom of this.  TECO assured me this was a scam.  Gentleman never called back or showed up though I did try to have him come over and offered him money so the police would arrest him on the spot.

Same situation with teco company. A spanish man identifying himself as amauru reyes said I was pass due on my account with teco but did not have any information regarding my actual account number. When he could not give me info from my account, I got suspicious and asked him to call back in an hour after I checked my payments. I immediately called Teco and was reassured that the call did not come from them. The call back number the guy gave me was 855-978-6050.

Call me on 15/10/2014 saying they were coming in two hours to shut my power off because I was behind in my payments  unless I did a payment today following his instructions. I check to find out if I forgot to pay something and I did not. He call me again and told him that as per my records I was up to date I that they could come to cut off my power... Nothing happened...

They called my grandparents on 11/20/14 saying that they from Entergy. They instructed her to go to Walgreens, CVS, Radio Shack, or Family Dollar to obtain a "Money Pack" pre paid card to pay for her delayed payment of electricity. This name was "Freddie Gomez". She then spoke with his manager "Adolfo Rodriguez". She ended up sending them $600.00. I called them this morning and spoke w/ Carlos Dias. I could tell he was Dominican from his accent. He laughed about the scenario and said that he did it for fun and that he was not going to return any of the money.

We received a call from this number last night, 12/17, and the man's name was Mike Ferrara. He said the same thing - that we were 2 months behind on our Duke Energy bill and they would be shutting off the power in 2 hours. I called back a few times because I knew we were not behind. First call- the guy kept saying lalalalalala- then started speaking in Spanish. He then hung up. I called again and they would not pick up. So we waited a little while and called one more time because I wanted to get more info to turn them in. They only speak Spanish so that is their targeted audience. I am going to try to report this to the authorities today.

They only target older hispanic folks. My father lost around 490 dollars yesterday because they had all of his information about his Duke Energy billing statements. My father is very distraught and confused by the whole ordeal. Beware these guys are scam artists and they don't care.

    Scammed in Miami
These scumbags are now targeting people in the Miami area, posing as collectors for Florida Power & Light. Somehow they were able to fool the caller ID into showing an FPL name and phone number, but later phone calls came from this number. Same story as the other complaints here, taking advantage of MoneyPak. Clearly targeting elderly hispanics.

A gentleman called asking for the lady of the house and saying that in 1.5 hours were going to disconnect the power of the house. He said his name was Carlos Montero representing Florida Power and Light.
Gave phone number 855-978-6050e  ext 4603.  He claimed he was in Florida.
At the end of the call he said they were going to give an extension until tomorrow ( Jan 23, 2015) at 10 am,
The caller ID said out of the area number unknown.
The gentleman was speaking in Spanish, there was a lot of background noise from people talking .

The same today, but I knew from the beginning this was a scam as I did my last monthly  payment on time. So I decided to  follow the game. This time it was Luis Mendez who instructed  me to go to CVS to get a money pack card and charge it with $4.99 so I would call him back and gave this card number. They are very  smart and they are professional  scammers. Be aware of giving any personal  information. They record  everything you say  so next time they will look more  closer to  a real  call. I spoke with Teco Customer department  and they noted  this is scam.

My elderly mother received a call from someone identifying themselves as Jefferson Gomez who said that her electricity would be cut off for non-payment, and that she owed $358.35.  When I called them back, he spoke only in Spanish and when I demanded to speak to someone in English, he hung up on me.  Scammers gonna scam scam scam scam scam!

Called NOVEC who said they are aware of the scam.  Police department says that as long as no personal information was given over the phone, there is nothing that they can or will do.
