Phishing attempt in a pop-up ad telling me to call this number to remove spyware from my computer.  Website was tech-support-windows.com

Had a random pop-up appear on my computer screen telling me that my computer was infected with spyware and that I could lose  thousands of dollars from the spyware and have my identity stolen to boot.  It said to call tech support for removal of the spyware at 855-982-0595.  Website was tech-support-usa.com.

So the site's only been up a day-and it's through Enom-the people who bring you those work-at-home scam links people post on news sites. We can safely say this is a scam

got the same! they posed as windows fire wall and time warner my provider....my computer was locked up. I was able to run a avast boot time scan and get rid of it. damn crooks.

This number (855-982-0595) pops up on the web with a fake virus scam telling you to call them right away to get the fake virus they just installed on your computer removed. Your screen locks up, simply use Control + ALT + Delete is the best way to close your window, otherwise you'll have to turn off your computer and reboot. Below is the info on the scam.  Run a boot-scan while your at it.

my lucky number was 855 982 2966. But presumably the same scam. Knew it was a scam but wanted to call just to see. Right when you call, it asks you to press 1 to continue. Very vague option. After pressing 1, the phone rang for about a minute and a half, and someone picked up the phone, seemingly out of breathe or blowing into his mic. Obviously a scam. Looked up number, said it was from waterville, MN. Asked my friend "Henry" from "tech support" where his current location is and he claimed he was in India. SKETCH
