These calls are the result of businesses giving away peoples numbers (often the phone carrier themselves) while having made promises they would not... hmm, money resulting from major criminal acts of fraud.. and breach of contract..
Just think, here in America... you have the right to know... require the company give you the names of the people who committed the fraud (or company).. then request the arrest of everyone who conspired in this fraud (salesclerks, tele marketers), and then sue for damage.. Don't ask for much, say just a thousand per event.  That means the business(es) will need to hire attorneys (they will love ya) to negotiate the matter (at a thousand per event, hmmm would be cheaper to just pay the lawsuit(s), and the employees who knew what they were doing (people commit crimes) and did it anyway..
(heaven knows, right to know means the actors on the tapes... including politicians) at a thousand each...

Caller ID just said "Assist".  Left no message.  Called Friday night.

Called and left no message.

Called, left no message. don't answer it or call back

Received call at 17:30 ET. Did not answer. No message left.

Claimed to be from "Nationwide" selling home security systems and wanted to know if I was "the" homeowner - found that interesting since they did not ask if I was "a" homeowner.

Hung up when I asked the person if they knew that it was illegal to make telemarketing cold calls.

Did not answer. No message left.

The automated message said, "for letting us put a sign in your yard we are offering to install a free alarm system in your house" hahaha yeah and rob you blind! I've heard of this scam before.

Answered the phone and heard nothing so I hung up.

Caller ID just said "Assist".  Left no message.  Called 12/16/14 2:32 P.M.

Called at suppertime (5:31pm EST) - Left an automated voice mail - it cut off the beginning, but said "No cost for installation, ....."

Called twice but did not leave a message either time. A legitimate cll would have

Called; I didn't answer; left no message.

Called once yesterday, didn't pick up, left no voicemail.

Called again today. I answered, nothing on the line, just silence for about ten seconds and then the call ended.

Blocked the number.

They've called twice this week but seeing that it was from New Jersey and knowing that we are not doing business with anyone there, I didn't answer and they didn't leave any voicemail.  After consulting this post and finding that it is likely a spammer (thanks everyone!), I've blocked the number…wish there were some better way to keep these snakes in their slimy holes.

The scam is not that they rob you blind they give you a free security system for signing a monitoring contract,.  Just like getting a free cell phone for signing a 2 year contract with a carrier

Phone number called three days, all at same time each day; clearly automated. Interesting...when I called them, as I also don't do business with anyone in that state...I didn't reach anyone--just an automated message which stated, "To have your phone number added to a do not call lit, press 1." Caller nor company name ever given.  Very odd.

Got a few calls that I suspect are from the same place but using different numbers.  This time they asked for Jeremy, I told them it was a business line and there was no Jeremy here.

Number called and said "merry Christmas motha [***]" then hung up.

Ditto -- ditto - every day for 2 weeks now
