Spam calls. Why can't they be stopped. Ridiculous!

It calls me everyday!  Aaarg.

I answered - they didn't say a word. They just hang up.

I received 2 calls from this number today. I did not answer, no voice message left.

Saw a missed call from this number. No voice message left

Pushing security systems....   I asked him why I would trust the security of my home with a company that breaks the law.

Got call. Left no message. Machine went off, no response.C.I.D. said 1-856-485-1038 Woodstown, N.J.

CID reads Woodstown,NJ.
No answer, no recording, nothing. Why bother with "do not call list", I still these stupid calls.

Another harrassing caller who hangs up when answering machine picks up.  BLOCKED.

why is  phone company allowing this to happen. Perhaps they make money off it?

this number calls constantly.  to me it's a type of terrorism and invasion of privacy.  "They" can stop people from eating certain foods, "they" can stop people from smoking.......why can't "they" stop ALL of the scam and supposedly illegal (if on do not call list) calls.  The people who run these groups that make these scam calls should be known by at least the telephone companies.  Why can't the telephone companies be made responsible to take care of this situation?

Sounds like an automated skype call.
Caller ID said "Woodstown NJ"

I can confirm the above comments. I answered this call from Woodstown NJ. It took about 8 seconds for the operator to respond to my "Hello". He wanted to connect me to someone who could tell me about the wireless security systems they were marketting. I thanked him for calling and hung up.

CALLS ARE BECOMING A DAILY ISSUE.

They call frequently at least once a week.  Answering machine picks up.  They hang up.  Major Nuisance along with Rachel with Credit Card Services.

I picked up, didn't say a word, they disconnected.

If you ever posted your phone number on a social site, or used it when ordering online, or otherwise typed it in your computer, or gave it to a friend whose computer was attacked ... your number may be known to the scammers.

Allow me to present an alternative in a very simple fashion ... not to insult your intelligence, but to attempt to get the idea across to even those who have difficulty understanding more complicated answers.  Consider it food for your brain, mangiamoccoli.

If you answered "yes", that is a good start.  Try counting from 1 to 10 now.  I will wait.

I want you to think "0" instead of "10".  Got it?
Now, get a piece of paper and a pen or pencil, and write down those 10 numbers.  Here, I will help you, in case your forgot:

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Now get ready to write down some more numbers.  I want you to write them down in the following format:
ABC-DEF-GHIJ
Yes, I know those are letters, but I want you to use numbers, instead.
Think of a number between 0 and 9 ... pick one from the list I gave above, if you wish.
Write it down, instead of the "A", above
Do that nine more times, writing it down instead of the other letters.
Now, look at the result.
Does it ring a bell?
It should, because you just wrote down a phone number!

Mr Computer is very good at making numbers.
Mr Computer can do what you just did in a fraction of a second.
In other words, Mr Computer can make and dial phone numbers VERY quickly.

Spammers and scammers who know about Mr Computer do not need to register and buy the DNC list.
Spammers and scammers who know about Mr Computer can even dial "unlisted" numbers, or "private numbers" or "brand-new numbers you just got"!
The DNC list is not a magic switch that blocks these calls from reaching your phone.  It is merely a list.

There, now you know all about how spammers can dial YOUR phone number, even if it is unlisted, and even if only relatives know it, and even if it is on or off the DNC list.

Called, caller ID indicates Woodstown, NJ and that's it.  Oh well another one to add to my don't answer or let ring list.

Called and asked if i am a home owner. My usual reply would have been in the positive. However, when i refused to respond with a "yes",the call was cancelled....Time to smarten up. Do not reply with a yes you will be  on the debt end of a business deal you never heard of. Urge your phone company to block this # or you will block your phone company from your service.
