I received a call just now from 857-444-0140.  The person picked up after I said "hello", so I'm guessing robo-caller.  They mumbled the name of the company and the name of whoever was speaking, and asked to speak to the person in whose name the electric bill appears.  I asked if they were National Grid (my electricity provider) and they said to the effect that no, they were not national grid, but they were calling on Nat Grid's behalf, and tried to verify that I was the person on the electric bill.  They then went into a spiel about how they were calling because Nat Grid and the news have been reporting that electric rates in my area are going to be rising come Nov and again in Jan (up to 37%) and they could offer price protection.  Smelling scam/phish I terminated the call and asked to be put on the no call list.  I was hanging up as the person was still talking and trying to explain further (I assume).

I got the same call; didn't quite get the name of the company but they said that they were working with National Grid regarding my electric bill. I explained that 1) my town did their own private electricity and 2) anyone not using the National Do Not Call list was obviously a scammer; she insisted that they were not scammers and said that she would put my number on their Do Not Call list and I again told her that scam companies are the ones that ignore the DNC.

Called today at 12:12 pm and "MA Energy" came up on caller ID.  I did not answer as I never answer a call from a number or name I do not know.  They left no voice mail.  I did get a call a while back that did leave a message similar to those described above with no caller ID and assumed it was political - it is that season after all!

Second call from that number. Each time they identified themselves as Liberty power and Liberty energy. I live in western MA.

just got this call few minutes ago (857-444-0140).   sort of screams a scam of some sort....
Caller: Is this the person responsible for electric bill?
Me: Why do you ask?
Caller: I need to.
Me: That's not an answer
Caller: Well, it's my answer.
Me: It's not an answer.  Who are you with?
Caller: Listen to how you talk.   (Caller then hung up)

Got a call from this number.  When I answered there was a bit of silence and you could then hear the "boiler room" in the background.  Asked if the person responsible for the electric bill was available and I told her they were not.  She said that is OK and hung up.

Stupidly long delay, then asked "are you in charge of the power bill?" Since "lower your electric bill" seems to be the new "lower your interest rate", I hung up and won't pick up this number again.

Called again. No answer.

Received this same call just hung up.
Some speel on lowing electric bill

When they ask for my National Grid account number, I demand their SS Number.  They always hang up.

Under no circumstances give these callers your power company account number.  Some of them "Slam" you into contracts. Remember phone slamming?
Further protection is to call your power company (National Gird, etc.) and tell them to lock the account.
The really dangerous ones are the ones  that offer an absurd rate like .00017/KWH a month.  That is for ONE month. Then you are in for it.
Always search these companies with the word "Scam" and watch what happens.
They are all scum.

"IF IT RINGS, IT'S A SCAM".

They just called me and sat silent on the phone while I said "hello", Hellooooo".  I could hear someone in the background talking too.  The number came up as "Somerville, MA" on my caller ID with no business name.  I hung up.  I too am on the Do Not Call List and anyone not honoring that is a SCAM!  This is the second solicitation I've had recently on power supply switching and I told the last one "I'm on the Do Not Call List".  They falsely claimed to be from Nat Grid.  These companies need to be reported to the attorney general and FCC.  Do your part and file a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry and the FCC.

I got a call from them. He asked who was I charge of the electric bill. I said we are not interested. He asked in a rude way I asked you a question what are you not interested in? I said nothing with my electric bill and said I and my husband are the account holders and no do to a back. He said I will try back when he's home. I said good luck and hung up

I got this call to - 1PM - Nov 15 Caller ID: "Energy Ma". Did not pick up - but glad somebody did and wrote about it here.
I believe I a few weeks ago, got a regular letter about: Change now or you will be charged more for electricity (I believe they wrote 30% more next year - which sounds strange) probably the same scammers.

Caller: I need to speak to the person who is in charge of utilities

Caller: Lisa, senior representative of <garbled company name with the word energy>
Me: I am all set. Take me off your list.
Caller: There is no list <Hung up>

Called...  I did not answer, and they did not leave a message.  I googled the number and found this information.  It came within five minutes of another call that I googled which was also a "spam" call.  This happens quite often.  I think it is the same person working different numbers.

I called them - long delay - someone talked - just enough to say  hello..then bad connection (Comcast) and they hung up.. could not make out anything they said..  breaking up.. (comcast great connection)
When they first called me.. Hello I said.. no one responded.. so I told them to pound sand and hung up.

I have been getting the same calls from MA ENERGY (857-444-0140).
I called WWLP and they checked into it. THIS IS A SCAM!!!
Do not give them any info. I asked them to stop calling, but  every day 10 AM & 3 PM without fail they call.

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
