No clue who or what this is. local number, 857 is not an area code here, no 444 exchange here.

Caller Id said "LOCAL CALL" which the 857 area code is NOT local to us; we are in WESTERN Massachusetts, some 150 miles from the source of these calls.

Have gotten a SLEW of these calls in the past three months.

I pick up/hang up immediately to break the call and 'confuse' the robodialer.

Next going to FILE A COMPLAINT with the DNC List.

Have been getting a ton OF "857" Area Code calls over the last 3 months. Most say "Out of Area" but today THIS number said "LOCAL CALL" which is a BIT FAT LIE - this is a LONG DISTANCE CALL. Other HARASSING NUMBERS of late: 857-444-5292; 857-444-8875; 857-574-0621; 857-776-3089; AND 857-963-4857. **ALL** of these were UNWANTED CALLS. I called THIS number BACK today and got an UNIDENTIFIED message that said "We called to ask you questions about taxes. If this call disturbed you, we apologize." Since we are in the midst of a special election and this is a FAVORITE TACTIC OF the **REPUBLICAN PARTY** (UNIDENTIFIED CALLS from NUMEROUS TELEMARKETING NUMBERS) I suspect this is the work of REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE for US Senate, **GABRIEL GOMEZ** and his ILK.

I received a call on my DNC listed phone this afternoon at 1343 hours.  Some woman with a heavy Southern drawl started saying about calling from Planned Parenthood, or something to that effect.  I just quietly disconnected.  I assume they were looking for donations but, as a non-breeder, I was not interested.

hate to break it to you, but I got plenty of calls like this from Lizzy "Liawatha" Warren's campaign a few months back. Scumbag telemarketing crosses party lines.

These people tried calling me again this afternoon at 1450 hours, but my call blocker disconnected them.  By coincidence, I got a politcal ad in the mail today from Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Inc. for Ed Markey so, apparently these calls have been from an organization pushing for Ed Markey.  We have Markey trying to convince us that Gabriel Gomez is anti-women and Gabriel Gomez shoving his involvement in the Navy SEALS down our throats with every commercial.  Politicians suck.

Political calls are not a violation of the DNC rules.  They're just really, really, really annoying.  I wish they'd come up with a DNC list for political calls.

This is a local Massachusetts call. The area code is a Boston, mostly cell #, area code.  I copied this from Wikipedia:  In March 2010, the state is split into two main regional calling areas. Eastern Massachusetts is considered as area codes: 339, 351, 508, 617, 774, 781, 857, and 978. Western Massachusetts is considered as area code 413. Area codes 339, 351, 774, & 857 are used on mobile lines, none or few land lines use them. Occasionally Mobile Phones can use 508, 617, and 781.

I screen all my calls.  If I don't recognize the number then I don't answer.  I have recently begun entering complaints with the Federal Do Not Call register, after I've done research and know that the caller is not exempt.  It's such a pain and I'm sick of it.  But, what can you do?

been awake since 9am and have received 5 calls so far this morning...only one was a person I know...this number has called twice today....

I agree.  There should be OPTIONS to agree to accept political, 'charity' and 'survey' calls.  Truth is, most people would opt out of ALL of them, so of course the politicians can't have that!

This number called and left a recorded message today from some "University Women's" advocacy group about one of the questions on this year's ballot.  Again it said "LOCAL CALL" but is from the Boston area; we are several area codes and a three hours drive away from there.  Ironically, I'd just gotten back from voting absentee!

Surprised I got this message; thought I'd blocked this number a year ago.  Unfortunately, my less-than-one-year-old blocking system seems to be not blocking calls I want blocked and inexplicably blocking calls from WANTED calls  (after working nicely for about 8 months.)  I guess its going as crazy as I am with all the unwanted calls coming in these days!  Ha!

Received this call and did not answer as I knew it was a robo call from some political organization...tomorrow is election day. Once the caller could not get me to answer from 5680, he called from 5548. Still didn't make me answer.
