They left a message indicating they were from the US Dept. of the Treasury Law Enforcement Department and are  proceeding on a law enforcement action on my lien.

I called them back.  Their message was in a crude Indian accent indicating they are the Law Enforcement Division.  I left them the US Marshall Office number for the District of Nevada and told them to call back.

I was called a by a man with an Indian accent asking for my lawyers information. I told him if he wants my lawyers information send me a subpoena he says they already had and that he was with the US Department treasury law enforcement department. I explained to him this no such office then he told me that I was going to be arrested and at that point did he really know who I was, I told the Renaissance and the cops over and I'll straighten it out with them. Then I hung up he called six times afterwords. Finally I blocked his phone number.

Stated he was with the dept of legal affairs for the US Treasury.  Used poor English and slang.  Stated I should have my lawyer contact him or be in "big trouble".  I blocked the number.

Got a call from a man with an indian accent saying he was from the dept of US treasury. He claimed there was legal action against me. I tried to be polite and tell him that I wanted paperwork sent in the mail. I said goodbye, he called again and my husband answered the phone. My husband tried to get direct answers from him and eventually ended hangng up after the caller didn't provide direct info. Suspicious scammer...

I too received a call this morning from "James Washington" from the department of legal affairs with a strong foreign accent. He stated that there was legal action taken against my name and I needed to return the call as delaying a returned call could result in a legal mess. In the event I'm to busy to call, please have my retained counsel return the call. Really???Why can't we stop these guys :(

Received a call in an Indian accent saying there were legal issues involving my name.  He left the name James Washington and said I needed to return his phone call.

We had a message from James Wahington from department of legal affairs. He had a heavy Indian accent. He gave verbal warning of law enforcement action against us. He left his number and wanted us or our retained attorney to call him or we would have a legal mess. Then he wished us luck. I was suspicious, so I googled and found that he is scamming people. I won't be calling him back.

Apparently this scam is making its way around the country.  Other states want these calls reported immediately.  I encourage everyone here to notify the Nevada attorney general...according to what I have found, this scam gets people to buy prepaid cards to pay for fictional fines, warrants, back taxes, etc.

I received this same scam (Washington state).  I had a message from Nelson Carter, heavy Indian accent, saying he was from the Department of Legal Affairs of the US Treasury.  He said he was giving verbal warning of law enforcement action against my name.  He left this number and wanted me to call him back as soon as possible or better would be for my retained attorney to call him or I would have a legal mess.  He wished me luck and told me to hurry.  

Got same message today.  Used to get them a while back but the guy, same accent, was from a law office.  I guess even scammers  gotta change stuff up to keep it interesting.  

I have received the same call just as everyone has said almost word for word will be reporting it to Nevada attorney  general as stated above.

The same exact thing is happening in Wyoming. Will block the number and IGNORE.

RECEIVED SAME CALL AS EVERYONE ELSE FROM NELSON CARTER STATING FROM US TREASURY.. WILL BE REPORTING THIS. WHEN I CALLED BACK JUST NOW THE MESSAGE SAID THAT NUMBER HAD NOT BEEN ASSIGNED TO A MAGIC JACK CUSTOMER YET. I GUESS SINCE HE CALLED ME TWO WEEKS AGO HE HAS NOW CHANGED HIS NUMBER.

He has a new number now. It is 760-292-2802. Same crap, same accent. He had called me in November and left a message. The new number traces to Palm Springs. I guess the complaints have made him have to move on. Too bad he is still at it. I don't pick up my phone unless I recognize the number, but now I want to, just to mess with him.
