got a call from this number 2 nights in a row now. no message left.

got called, but no messages left. Also have calls from other numbers starting with 858-535-****. I think they're all coming from one call center, and all possibly fake numbers coming from Orange County.

Got called from this and similar numbers starting with 858-535-xxxx. At first, I thought it was from UCSD since I'm also an alumni. However, UCSD numbers are usually 858-534-xxxx. Called them back twice, but got machine noises. That tells me it's probably an autodialer doing the calling.

got a call at 7:53pm 7/9/08. no msg.

got a call from 858-535-1833...asked for a mr and mrs (mylastname).  said they weren't available and asked if i could help them with anything, they said no and hung-up.  Seemed odd to me...

They have called on average once a week for over a year, but never leave a message.

I got a call from a 858 535 number and picked up not knowing and it started as a voice recorded message so i hung up thinking politics but now that i see all of these i'm not so sure...

Got a call this evening, thinking it might have been a relative from San Diego, but discovered it entered in 800notes. Did not answer, and they left no message.

I used to work for some scum bags in LA that ran a telemarketing operation for non profits.  They were scum bags because of the way they ran their operations.  

The non profits were legit, but mostly people were annoyed by us calling asking for MORE MONEY.  Sometimes there was a legitimate campaign, but people were donation weary.

I now contact companies and organizations and tell them that I am happy to make a yearly (or monthly in some cases, auto debit) donation, but if they mail me anything, I will call back to ask them to take me off of all lists and stop donating.  Good companies, profit and non, will listen to you and comply.  (Omaha steak, tell them you want one catalog the second week of November so you can order gifts for Christmas, and you will get that ONE mailing)

This is caller is likely an operation that takes a slice of whatever you donate.  They are likely contracting with UCSD, so in that sense, the would be "legit", but annoying none the less.

If you want to donate, do it directly with the University, unless they tell you otherwise.

And the one time you pick up and they are there, ask them to take you off of their list.

BE AWARE SCAM guys. He hung up on me when I confront his calling about a donation.

Scumbag asking for money to help illegals, she called them Mexican immigrants without proper papers...BS!
She had the worst accent, spoke broken English, such an insult to Americans.  
Obama supports this crap.  Illegals decided one day to protest on our American land and demand the United States taxpayers to support them.  Those criminals can take their criminals [***] back to where ever it is they came from and support themselves.  They should be paying us to be here but Pelosi and her cronies defend their criminal act.

Got a call today around 8:30 pm. I didn't answer. No message left. I called back and got a busy signal. Hmmmm.

It's a legit call.  If you are a UCSD alumni and gave the alumni association your phone number, this is one of their calls throughout the year trying to get donations for the university.  If you don't want them to call you, just don't give them your phone number or simply say you are unable to.  No biggie.

Received a call from this number earlier this evening. Asked for my son's name (mispronouncing it). I said you have a wrong number, they said thank you and hung up. Never explained who they were or why they were calling.

I am UCSD alum as well. I got a call from this number. No message, and the number is alway busy when I try to call back.

Unanswered calls from 858-535-1056 and 1833. No message left. I am also a UCSD alumnus but how would they get my cell phone?
