I answered the phone and this guy with a heavy Indian accent, named John, said he was from my IT group calling about a problem with my computer. He could help me now. I said 'hello'  a few times and pretended I couldn't hear him. Then I hung up. white pages says it's a private address and a 60 yr old man named Jim Fowler at that phone number. I doubt it.

Same thing here. They don't leave a message, just hang up when the machine answers the call. I see that it's another "computer problem" scam caller thanks to a comment left below. Will make sure I never answer this number in the future.

The man sounded Oriental, he said I had a problem with my computer. I said I didn't. He said I did but I didn't know about it yet. He was wanting to come on my computer via the phone. He asked me to give him a chance. I hung up the phone & left him talking to himself.

He said he was from Windows and wanted to help me understand the problems with my computer. He asked me to hold down the windows button and press the R key. I asked him why I should do that, and he said, "If you ask any more questions I will block your computer, then you will see what your problems are." I told him I did not understand what he was trying to do, and he said, "you are an idiot. How can you survive if you don't have a brain? You are an idiot in America." He kept rambling about how I was an idiot, but I hung up at that point.

It's hard to tell if this was a scam or a prank call.

I got that call yesterday.  He had a thick Indian accent with a very American name.  When I told him I don't use Windows, I have a Mac, he tried to convince me that it didn't matter, I still have a problem in my operating system.  Wow, these people are relentless!   Someone said he couldn't tell if it was a prank or scam...it's a scam, and they want your money for nothing.

Total scam, Marshall.  I've been getting these calls for over a year.  When they tell me I have a problem in my Windows, and I tell them I have a Mac, don't use Windows, they try to then convince me there is a problem in my operating system anyway.  Ugh, they never stop, and they want your money.  I've reported every one of them to the government, but those calls keep coming.
